So this is another small car from Malaysia. Perodua, which is famous for their small cars in Malaysia, launched the MyVi to replace the aging Perodua Kelisa (James May likes the Kelisa). MyVi, which stands for "My Vision", was success in among the South East Asian countries and it became one of the most abundant car in my neighborhood. Based on the second generation Daihatsu Sirion/Boon, the MyVi is also similar in design as the Toyota Passo. Sorry about the bad interior shots, I got it from the local forums.

Here's the specs from Wiki:

QUOTE
* Engine: EJ-VE (1.0 - Water-Cooled, 4-Cycle, In-line 3-cylinder), and K3-VE (1.3 - Water-Cooled, 4-Cycle, In-line 4-cylinder); DVVT
* Total displacement: 989 cc, and 1298 cc.
* Max. output (DIN): 43 kW (58 hp) / 6000 rpm, 64 kW (86 hp) / 6000 rpm
* Max. torque (DIN): 88 N·m (65 ft·lbf) / 3600 rpm, 116 N·m (86 ft·lbf) / 3200 rpm
* Fuel system: EFI
* Fuel tank capacity: 40 Litres.

The MyVi is currently my favourite Malaysian car to date, and my parents are going to buy one as a replacement for my mum's old Nissan.

If it's based on the Sirion, it's probably a damn good sub-compact...doesn't make it cool though.

I just knew that Richard Hammond kinda likes it:
QUOTE
"No jokes, this is a good-looking car. But if it looks familiar, that's because this is a Daihatsu Sirion in all but name. You see it costs billions to develop a new car - you design them on computers then build lots of them to crash into walls. So Perodua let someone else do it and spent their money sticking a new badge on it.
But they kept a bit back to spend on styling. Which is why, even though it shares bits and pieces with the Sirion, the Myvi is better looking...
...So under seven grand for a good-looking car, built in a factory shared with Toyota, which handles as well as a Yaris, does nearly 50mpg with a three-year warranty - yes please."

Some engine specifications for the MyVi 1.3 SXi 5dr:
QUOTE
Acceleration (0-62mph) 11.3 seconds
Performance
Engine Power - BHP 86 BHP
Engine Power - KW 64
Engine Power - PS No
Engine Power - RPM 6000
Engine Torque - LBS.FT 85.6
Engine Torque - MKG 12
Engine Torque - NM 116
Engine Torque - RPM 3200
Performance
Top Speed 106

Here's the MyVi SE (Sport Edition I suppose). I hate the body kits. I have no idea why the people in Perodua want the body kit on. thumbs_down.gif

MJ uncool. It may be practical, but for me, it has all the appeal of a toaster oven with a spoiler.

Wow, it's ugly, it's slow and probably no better assembled. Another winner for the MJ Uncool vote.

It's actually built pretty well, and fairly competent dynamically.

I voted cool too. So the 2 votes for cool are sure then... But I don't think this deserves the same place as the Countach, Zonda or F40...
