Edit: This poll was made a bit prematurely for the US market. After making it, it was learned that the US will not get the 2-door manual-equipped R32 as posted originally.
The US market R32 will be available only in 4-door and only with the DSG transmission. So Phix, herkalees and everyone who voted cool or frozen, you can either keep your vote as based on the Euro version or change your vote based on the disappointing reality of the North American version. If you want to change your vote, just post up here. The R32 returns in it's second iteration even plumper than the previous version. ![]() ![]() Drivetrain Type: 15* VR6 Displacement: 3.2L (3189 cc) Power: 250 bhp @ 6300 RPM Torque: 236 lb/ft @ 2500 RPM Transmission: 6-speed manual standard, 6-speed DSG optional on Euro model DSG only on US model ![]() Body European Version Type: 2-door hatchback or 4-door hatchback Length × Width × Height in: 165.5 × 68.6 × 57.1 (hatchback) Curb Weight: 3,680 pounds US Version Type: 4-door hatchback only Curb weight: 3,950 pounds (est.) ![]() ![]() Performance 0-60mph: 6.2 seconds Top Speed: 155 mph (electronically limited) ![]() Personally, there's no way I'm calling this car cool. It's way too fat and luxurious to be a true sports car and the MK V styling is just too bulbous and goofy looking. This little blurb from the official VW press release says it all: QUOTE As opposed to the more purist style of the Golf GTI, the R32 top model boasts a dazzling array of standard equipment at no extra price, such as automatic air conditioning (Climatronic), the RCD 300 audio system with ten loudspeakers, anti-theft alarm system plus, multifunction display, automatic anti-dazzle interior mirror, rain sensor, tire pressure monitor and the complete safety programme comprising six airbags, ESP and brake assistant. No cool hatchback has all that fruity garbage and weighs 2 full tons. That Americans can't get it with a manual is just icing on the cake. Uncool vote cast. |

I voted cool. Seems like it'd make a rather comfortable daily driver.

If it costs anywhere near the $32k price mark then i would most definately pick the STi Limited over it !
That said, i just dont like the MK5 GTis so uncool from me as well. |

In any case, it's not the car it should be. The R32 should be more focused, but instead it's more of a GT car. Uncool.

Well since this is the Eurospec R32, I'm voting cool. Whenever a thread pops up for the US R32 it gets an uncool vote for me.

There will be no US version poll. This is it.
You can say the R32 is cool based on a car you'll never see or it sucks based on what you'll actually be able to buy. |

The last-gen one was awesome, and the new Euro one is too, but too a lesser extent.

Uncool. It's more expensive than the GTi, and from what I've read isn't good enough to justify the extra you pay for it.

Uncool. DSG or no, performance-oriented special-editions with no manual transmission are lame.
