Leaving the posts intact and only locking the thread isn't helping either.
The spam message is still there for all of google etc to read. At least delete the whole thread/user |

But I agree, the best way to moderate should be to either delete the posts or delete the user with the posts he/she made. |

Hi,
Just to let you guys know that I have disabled the signatures for now. I will enable in a short while. I see most of the new registered users are signing up to put the signatures and then leave. I am working to implement a mod that will prevent users from posting signatures until they reach 'x' posts. I would prefer to keep 'x' as 100 posts. Regards, Ketan |

It's not 1999 anymore, people have sufficient bandwidth nowadays. |

Yeah the pics in sigs things has always been about making the forums not look terrible, it's never been about bandwidth. Even years before DS started in 2003, forums were full of image signatures and it was not an issue with bandwidth. It did make your eyes want to bleed, though.

That makes sense, especially if there are no size/style restrictions. I agree that awful signature pictures are a plague on forum signatures, but it can be okay if people all stick to some sort of standard... |

I think sigs should return.. never had an issue with pictures in them, and those that put them in usually complied pretty quickly once asked to remove them. Sigs were useful for people to get their work/site out there. I don't generally care, but I know especially in the photography forum, its always nice to see other people's work.
