basically that means that for every time the engine turns the gear ratio's number, then the wheels turn once. For instance, when you're in first gear, for every 14.3387 times your engine turns (that's your first gear ratio x the final gear ration) your wheels turn once. As the numbers decrease, that means the wheels turn faster at each engine speed, which if, of course, why you go faster in 6th than in 1st.

Hope that helps smile.gif

That's a pretty common thing, Lee7; don't want to be flying around in reverse all the time tongue.gif

Something interesting. Take your gear ratios, multiply them by the torque of your engine and that's the thrust that your engine is scooting you along at.

The same rating as my bicycle when I stand on the pedals!

Also if you're really good at matching engine RPM and your speed you don't need to clutch (assumes you've got a synchronized gearbox which I believe most are).

With my old engine, i had like 100/100 ... but then again, the car weighs 2200 pounds. It was still pretty zippy.

No, the final gear ratio is simply the ratio that all the gears run through. So instead of having 1st gear be a 14.3389:1 ratio (which would neccesitate a really big gear) it is, instead, made up of a combination of the 3.267:1 and the 4.389:1, which require smaller gear diamaters.

Well, I have never loss to a WRX... but both of them were from a roll..

If it had been from a stop... I would have been playing catch up the whole time...

AWD owns me from a launch...

But I own WRXs on high end pull... (Unless they are modded)

And bankieWRX tries to pull yet another fast one on us...you have 217 ft.-lbs. of torque, not 220.
