I thought this would be fun for the regulars who still come here.

What have you been up to for the last 12 months?

Yeah there is that thread...but I don't really have many pictures of what I've been up to!

I only have the pictures to keep me motivated to keep doing stuff.

The youngest offspring is finally getting to be less work and sleeping more consistently at night.

My dad moved his VW into my garage so it is a pain to try to do any work with it in there. I think he's tossing in the towel and going to craigslist it. '71 Super convertible if you're interested. I managed to get all the drywall up on the walls and painted with my father-in-law's help.

I've lifted all the cars but the Volvo on the 4-post Bendpak. The Volvo has new tires (Cooper Zeon RS3-S) and spark plugs (Volvo branded but I think Bosch makes them).

My Volkswagen has an intake leak on the 3/4 side. I took the carbuertor out and one of the gaskets was ripped. I think I may have ripped it putting it in. I don't know if that's what is causing the leak. I'll get a new gasket set and tear it all the way down. Fuel injection if it pisses me off any more than it has.

I finally convinced my wife that a project station wagon would be cool.

Preschool is expensive.

I kinda landed my dream job with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

I'm an Associate Producer in radio. So I create content for our local morning, noon and afternoon current affairs programs. The people I work with are amazing. We all seem to share a dark sense of humour, that news-types seem to acquire. I had been working as an investigative journalist in TV, but my contract came up for renewal and a person with more seniority in the corporation decided they wanted the position. At first I was kinda bitter, but it facilitated me moving back into radio, which I've come to realize was a blessing.

I say "kinda landed my dream job" because I'm still a contract employee. My current contract goes until April, and another AP is going on maternity leave then. So there's a good chance I'll get her position for the 12 months she's away.

Family wise, things are pretty stable. The kids are all growing up stupid fast. Scarlett started kindergarten in September. She's in French Immersion and is coming home with bits and pieces of a new language every day. Daisy is absorbing everything we can teach here, and mimics her sister so much.

My house is falling apart, but as long as I'm a contract employee I don't feel like I have the financial stability to go into huge debt fixing it up. Maybe if I get the 12 month position in April I'll feel more comfortable about borrowing money to upgrade the house. Until then duct tape and krazy glue are my friends.

Car wise I'm still stuck with the Legacy wagon and Yaris 5-door.

The only time I really get frustrated with my current situation is when I think about how my wife and I make an income that puts us in the top of the Canadian middle class, and I can't afford to buy a fun car. We paid $20,000 in child care last year, which would purchase a modest 964.

It's a really petty feeling considering I feel lucky to have a job I love, a healthy and happy family, and a home I own. But it still gets me down sometimes (mostly when I'm looking for something to get me down).

I find myself frequently entertaining the idea of a Cayman or CTS V.

I test drove a Cayman S and you can't go wrong with one of those.

So I took up a new job in March. Still in advertising, but I now work at JWT on the Nike account. Big things are happening, but I constantly find myself questioning how much I love the job, and whether it's something I want to stick to.

I got engaged last October, and am getting married near the end of December. So that's pretty big news.

For those of you that weren't paying attention, I bought a Toyota 86 back in February, and am absolutely loving it (to the point, where my dreams of a 911 are being questioned every day). It's the type of car that makes you wonder why you'd ever want more. The car seems to be an accident magnet though. It's been keyed, and hit-and-run on twice. Unfortunately for me, both times it was in areas where there was no surveillance available.

My apartment is probably going to be completely re-done soon, since we're talking houses. It's mostly all right, but some things are getting ragged around the edges.
