I was going to post this in E&T but I notice no one ever reads it. My new laptop, the HP Pavilion dm4-2015dx. Picked it up yesterday at Best Buy. i3-2310m, 4gb DDR3, 640gb hd. Crazy good battery life, I'm loving this thing. It's a strange brown color and attracts finger prints like a Korean ladyboy attracts American tourist.

Wrote a review for it on my site http://www.cyclonesworld.net/2011/07/new-l...ion-dm4-2015dx/

Nice. I was going to surprise my wife with a new laptop for her birthday but she ended up getting a Motorola Xoom instead. blush.gif The new HPs were at the top of my list too.

I know there's nothing wrong with HPs, but I just have this aversion to the brand. I see an HP, and think "Well that looks great," and then half a second later I'm like, "Ewww, it's an HP." Congrats on the purchase though. I love the color.

Two-years ago I went and bought the cheapest laptop I could find. It was a Lenovo G550, with what felt like flimsy black, plastic casing. Most durable laptop I've ever had. I liked it so much, that when my g/f wanted to replace her laptop we basically got her an updated version of the same.

My budget was $600. Anything i5 at that price had the build quality of a Leapfrog computer.

Also, I'd never buy a Sony laptop considering how many I saw fail at my last job. We had 10, every single one of them fucked up catastrophically at some point. Basically what I'm saying, don't nismo my thread tongue.gif

I was the same about HP for awhile but I had a few business class laptops over the years and a Pavilion dv6 and they were all pretty nice. I spent awhile thinking about if I wanted to buy this one or not and ultimately I did. The size, look, feel and battery life was a huge deciding factor.

For PCs I've had a Compaq, a Toshiba and another Compaq. The Compaqs have been flawless . . . the Toshiba was a PoS that started breaking the day I brought it home.

I had a series of Dells and a Compaq (pre-HP takeover) which were all flawless. I bought a business line HP, that had a hard drive failure three times in three months, and I wrote the brand off.
