tip: if you want your stock mustang shifter to feel really tight and crisp, just drive a stick shift ranger for a month and hop back in the mustang. IT WORKS!!!

If you want to love driving, go from automatic for about a month then to manual.

Automatic ?

The worst invention ever. dry.gif

But I guess at the time they were introduced several decades ago, manual transmissions were quite difficult to operate. But today - there is no reason for anyone to prefer an automatic equipped car over a manual. Today's manual transmissions are incredibly easy to operate smoothly and are way more efficient in their operation compared to conventional, power robbing automatic transmissions.

Speaking from personal experience, when I first obtained my license when I was 16, I only knew how to drive an automatic and I was reluctant to learn how to drive "stick." (partly due to laziness and also I was a bit intimidated by it)

A few years later, I learned to drive manual and I have never looked back. The more experience you get driving a manual, the more proficient you will become. It eventually becomes as routine a thing as brushing your teeth in the morning.

How about "riding a bike"? That's a better analogy, even though it's often used incorrectly/too often.

i honestly think i'm a better driver at manual than auto... the worst is when i try to drive an auto, and then shut the car off while its still in D... head.gif, or find my left foot searching for the clutch when i go to start it up. overall, i'm just way more comfortable behind the wheel of a manual.. i was born for it.
