The Acura ZDX is an upcoming mid-size luxury crossover wagon developed by Honda for their upmarket brand Acura. The car was originally scheduled to be called the Acura MSX. The ZDX debuted at the 2009 New York International Auto Show on April 8, 2009.

Five teaser shots, released by Acura between March 16–20, 2009, indicate a coupe-like sloping roofline akin to that of the BMW X6, which led many observers to believe that is its direct competitor. After the announcement about naming the vehicle ZDX, Acura added the words "Luxury Four-Door Sports Coupe" to the caption for each picture. Moreover, it does not state the vehicle as a crossover or an SUV.

The car has been said to be a "new level of prestige for Acura." It features Acura's first six speed automatic transmission, advanced ventilated seats, as well as other luxury appointments. The vehicle was also the first to be completely designed at Acura's California design studio.

The announced version includes the 3,664 cc (3.664 L; 223.6 cu in) SOHC VTEC V6 all-aluminum engine rated 300 bhp (220 kW) at 6300 rpm and 270 lb·ft (366 N·m) at 4500 rpm, 6-speed automatic transmission, Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), 19-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof with movable sunshades, hand-stitched leather interior, HandsFreeLink Bluetooth connectivity, power tailgate, and a high-powered audio system with CD player, AM/FM/XM Satellite Radio and USB audio interface with iPod integration.

Technology Package adds the Navigation System with voice recognition, an Acura/ELS Surround premium audio system and a new multi-view rear camera. Advance Package adds blind spot monitoring system, Collision Mitigating Braking System (CMBS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

United States Environmental Protection Agency fuel consumption estimates for all models are 16 mpg-US (15 L/100 km; 19 mpg-imp) in the city, 23 mpg-US (10 L/100 km; 28 mpg-imp) on the higway and 19 mpg-US (12 L/100 km; 23 mpg-imp) combined.

Sales were set to begin in winter 2009.

On 20 November 2009, Acura announced the pricing for the ZDX. The base model will sell for $45,495, the technology Package for $49,995 and the Advance Package for $56,045. All will have an $810 destination and handling fee.

Well yes, but the only other crossover that ever got sporty right IMO was the Infiniti FX. I remember first seeing one of those in pictures thinking it was awesome, then having my mind blown the first time I saw a real one. I think my reaction to a real ZDX would be similar. It just looks right to me, and is what the awkward (but badass) X6 should've been like. To me this car just oozes 21st century cool. It belongs at a motor show as a concept, not as a road car. That makes this cool as hell for me.

It's very uncool. Alright, it's got a lot of the good looks of a BMW X6 (if anything, in a more palatable package) but then...it feels like it lacks any substance. At least the BMW is an impressive driver's car (for its size and weight) and makes a nice noise whether you pick the turbo I6 or the TT V8, but this Acura is just another FWD-based Honda thing with another version of their hum-drum SOHC V6.

Ok, I work at Acura...so I'll try and be fair here and I've had some time with this vehicle.

That said, I dont really care for it. Its target consumer is the "empty nester" with a budget enough for the MDX, but no need for the 3rd row, and extra size. It IS however, a very nice blend of the MDX and RDX, the RDX is a bit small for my taste and leaves you a bit beat up after long drives with the super stiff suspension, and less than stellar seats.

The build quality is top notch, which you can expect from any Acura, the doors are solid, the seats rival the MDX and RL seats for comfort. The rear seat leaves you about the same amount of legroom that you'd expect in a TL or TSX...its not quite as spacious as the MDX in that department, and certainly doesnt have the headroom in the rear compared to the MDX. In fact, I gave myself a neck cramp getting in the backseat no lie (I'm 6'3"). Cargo room? Forget about it, you've got room for 2 suitcases and thats about it.

Overall, if you arent in the market for the big MDX, and dont like the RDX, this is the car for you.

This seems like fail logic to me. Wouldn't those people buy a car?

Not neccessarily, If you like the styling of the ZDX, or have been driving an MDX or RDX in the past and have gotten used to driving an SUV then buying a ZDX wouldnt be that far fetched. I dont think its Honda's best logic, but it certainly isnt "fail logic".

People said the NSX was a mistake and should have never been produced with such a lack in power compared to other cars of the era, and it turned out to be a legend in its own right.

Thanks for blessing us with such wisdom.
