^Has anyone driven one? I haven't seen a review, although I stick to UK publications pretty religiously. Edmunds is pretty reliable in my opinion, and not given to giving glowing reviews of crappy cars (they truly tore into the second-gen TSX in their first drive, for example). So when they love it, I'm interested. Basically, they say excellent handling, quiet and refined interior, but a bit of a harsh ride quality: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=137955 QUOTE It grips so hard at the front that you wonder if there is actually a Korean word for understeer, then encourages you to get on the gas early and put all 299 hp to use at the rear. Again there's grip from the 19-inch rear tires, yet there's a lightness and deft poise that makes for an immensely satisfying and extremely manageable flow from one apex to the next. QUOTE Even at [100 mph] there's barely any wind noise in the Genesis coupe and tire noise is well suppressed except on the kind of concrete-paved sections you get on U.S. freeways. It's a nice cruiser, and a nice place to be. Even the soft-touch dash plastics exude quality €” though the indicator stalks and charmless center console let the side down. QUOTE Our enforced amble does highlight a flaw, because the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe rides badly, as its damping lacks the supple polish of the best all-around sporting coupes. Probably the SE package's front 225/40R19 and rear 245/40R19 Hankook tires don't help. The trick for Hyundai would be in maintaining the excellence of the handling, while underpinning it with more comfort. Perhaps a trip to Lotus Engineering, a longtime collaborator with Hyundai for suspension calibration in the past, would be in order.

Does anyone know when the Genesis Coupe is going to be available for purchase? My lease on my BMW ends in April and this might be my next car. I just wonder how the aftermarket is going to be for the I4 Turbo vs the NA V6?

I sat in this car today at the Chicago autoshow (which btw was utterly underwhelming, economic times are showing).
Interior materials were good, but still not where I'd want them. It sure is a looker from the outside, but therein lays the problem. My friends and I were discussing if this would become a girl-car just like the mustang is. We came to the conclusion- yes. |

negative hexagone, you see the mustang is a car ford put out with the image of the car first and the dynamics second. hyundai obviously put the looks behind the dynamics for the genesis coupe (i still like how it looks tho).

Nothing wrong with girl cars (and girl bikes) in my book. Shit, the MX-5 is one of the great bargain driver's cars out there, and it's almost universally regarded as a girl's car. The SV650 is an epic streetbike, and it's widely regarded to be a girl's bike. Et cetera.

^Thanks, I started reading the Car article, and got a feeling of deja vu, it's actually the same article as Edmunds, by the same guy...Ben Barry...just rearranged slightly.
On a slightly related note, it's kinda annoying how publications will buy stuff that has been printed in other markets, and re-print it for their own magazine. I find a lot of this in the Porsche world. As a writer I see the obvious appeal, write one article and get paid for it several times, but as a consumer, I'm not such a big fan. I love it, I can only hope to have it be the first car my girlfriend and I purchase when I'm out of college. Wow...if your GF lets you get a two door RWD coupe I'll be slightly jealous. I tried to convince my wife to replace the 190D with a Mini Cooper, but got a tirade about how two doors is impractical, and how the Mini is too small inside. |

Boost: Yes it was her money.
Duke: I don't think she cares about handling or history when it comes to cars...which is unfortunate...on the up side though, she isn't allowed to scold me for the cars I buy, which can come in handy. It was a concession I got her to agree to before we had the kid. I was kinda concerned that the kid would mean no fun car till it was out of university. |

That could be intentional, acceleration sensors are set to a pretty high threshold in modern cars to prevent unnecessary detonation. You'd be surprised how many big accidents don't see the airbags being deployed.
