Because her 200k+ mile 1998 Altima has a scarier, rougher suspension than my friend's Factory Five Roadster, and a whole host of other issues, it's time for something new.

So, here we go:

- Budget up to $5000.
- Early to mid 2000s preferable.
- Brands to be considered: Nissan, Honda, Volkswagen (maybe Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai, etc)
- Automatic
- Drivetrain unimportant
- Reliability and mileage as priorities.

Sorry it's a boring one, but I'd be grateful for the help.

Neither, NY, ~1 hour outside NYC, but she goes to school here in Maine.

...? Corollas, Civics, Accords, ..?!?

I will look on cars.com and some sites I use and send you some specific stuff that might appeal to her....

I would just look at the usual suspect of Accords, civics, Camrys and Corollas. Maybe a older Legacy or outback if you get lucky.
moe
Can you get a Mazda 3 in the price range over there?

^ Not yet.
