What kind of power does it make?

It has never been to the Dyno, so I can only guess with what other cars with my mods are making. I would say about 180whp?

Ever track it?

It has never seen the track. I would love to someday. Though, being my year round car I have to sorta take car of it.

Welcome to the site, awesome looking car man!

Thanks!

Put a cage in it and start tracking it! That's what the splitter is for!

Noob question: Is the lug pattern 4x100? Chrome lugnuts look weird on black wheels to me. I would change them. Otherwise, nice ride!

Yeah, I REALLY need a Roll Bar, Safety First!

Yes the lug pattern is 4x100. All Miatas are that way. I've debated getting black lugs. Maybe next spring.

What a great looking car! heart.gif Miata's, and Mazdaspeeds in particular always had such a nice look to them. However your tire choice is far from ideal, sorry tongue.gif

Welcome aboard!

New tires coming in the spring. Not sure what to get yet.

Summer tires to look for: Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2s or Pilot Sport PS2s, Continental ContiExtreme Contact DWs, Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport...that's my short list of quality, high performance (yet livable) summer tires.

^Clark, when I saw this post (before checking who put it up) I assumed it was yours. I'm shocked that you haven't bought a Miata yet.

Hankook RS3 or Dunlop Direzza Star Spec. Don't your time/ money on any other tire.

Good track tires. Not sure how safe they are in the wet.

Those too, for only twice the price.

I thought you said they were okay. So what should I get, then? I need new tires this summer too. (THREADJAAAAAAAAAAACK)

Unless I go to 8" or 8.5" wides, yeah. But I probably WILL go to the wider size.

I don't have money...also I'm shooting for an NA, preferably a silver '94 with no options except power steering (that's a pipe dream though tongue.gif )

Yup. This will be the second winter. I was up at school last winter and didn't really need to drive it much. But, when class got cancelled for the first time in over 15 years (east lansing got hit with a foot of snow in february), you BET that I spent that day driving sideways.

I didn't even need to drive anywhere that day.

Good god did this make me giddy with anticipation. Holy FUCK can I NOT WAIT for snow.

Never actually gone sideways in snow before (for fun, that is). Seems like a blast.

fucking tiny tires. For 17/18" tires the price difference is a lot - lot more.

I can second this.

'Twas a struggle to find a tire size that both tires were offered in but I found one finally. Not quite double, but I do get your point. I will say this though I have yet to see a non-slick tire last as long as an RE-11 at the track. PS2's can't touch them, Kumho XS' cannot, and Dunlop's heat cycle out to fast.

Here's a more common tire size.

Also, I am seeing more and more track/ autocross cars running R-S3 over the Star specs since they don't seem to get greasy on heavier cars during to sustained track use. Being cheaper doesn't hurt either.
shandyman5
Is that your STi's tire size? If so that's pretty funny as the first car that I found where they were both offered was a 2011 STi. I tried an M5, 911, various Mustang's, a Camaro, and an Audi S4 all with no luck. The good 'ol STi pulled through lol.

Yeah. It's also the default tire size if you look up tires based on size on tire rack.

Just checked RS-3's on for 235/40/R18, then 245/40/R18, and lo and behold, the larger ones are about $100 cheaper per set of four. Looks like I'm finally going to move to wider summer rims.

How much more incentive do you need to get the bigger wheels?

None. What to get is the next question. The answer is "whatever I can find that I like on the 'Whoretex 5x112 Classifieds."

Not sure about your offset's or any clearances for an MKV but if you really like your OEM wheels you could always widen them. PM or text me if that interests you as I know a specialist and he would help you out.

The European R32 has my exact wheels in 8" instead of 7.5", but they're revoltingly heavy. I want something at least 5 lbs. less per wheel. 20 less lbs. of unsprung weight would be nice.
clarkma5
These perhaps? ASA GT5 Silver 18x8 21.4 lbs.

Hey Clark? Get the fuck out of my head. tongue.gif

That's exactly what I was looking at earlier. Wheels in that style are EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Also, VMR V710 in gunmetal. I don't care how played out they are in VW community on Mk Vs.

Gotta admit those ASAs would look badass on a MkV R32, and they're a reasonably light weight for an affordable price, plus they fit and are the width you need for 245s.

So, I know I am a nooooooooob, but 2 whole pages about tires on the (user rides forum).

Usually that sorta stuff gets the lock on other forums or at least a "Back on Topic" sorta thing.

Oh well. Not that I have much say anyways. I am Black RSX.

Tires is a hugely important topic though...they can redefine a car's entire purpose.
