So usually after I haven't driven my car for a day or longer (so the engine is cold), I've noticed an idle problem with my car. Usually my car will sit at 750 RPMs when its idling. Now, when I start it up, it sits at 750...starts moving downward to around 500...the car shudders and then it kicks the revs back up. However, on occasion when I'm stopped and I go to accelerate, my call stalls. Nothing violent, just the engine cuts out and the dash lights up. This only happens when its cold outside and my engine hasn't been warmed up.

For reference my cars is a 2006 Mazda3 GT Hatch, Automatic.

Any ideas?

My Saab used to do this a bit, my thought (based on no actual experience or mechanic work) was that it was the injectors. Maybe, Idk, just a guess.
Aircooled
Dollars to donuts it has something to do with the intake/fuel.

does this go away after the car warms up?
BlackJack
Could be a bad A/F ratio. Sounds like the ECM needs a software update.

I would check loose electrical connections first. anywhere on the engine. are you getting any codes from the engine?
fiber optic
Check vacuum lines too.

Mainly. But today even with a warm-ish engine it stalled, and near stalled twice in a parking lot.

How would I check that?

I'm planning on giving the Engine a once-over when there is light outside and its not raining tomorrow.

Take it to a dealer? Ask a mazda3 specific forum?
Whisper it sweet nothings? Kick it?

Taking it to Mun G's Mazda Specialist this week.

I already asked the mazda3forums...still waiting on a reply.

I whisper it sweet nothings every day.

I'd never hit my car! What is it, my girlfriend?

Check into your idle air control valve...it's probably plugged...
