Alan McNish's Facebook page just confirmed that the R18's launch event is Friday.

What we know so far:

- 3.7L V6 TT (because of restrictions that won't even end up helping the non-diesels)
- Coupe (first since 1999 for Audi Motorsport)

I can't WAIT to see this thing.

They must have called in Batman to help with the design. Very nice, it looks out of this world sinister!

I dunno, I think it's kinda ugly.

Looks like an unholy mix of Daytona Prototype and an F1 car.

EDIT: The front 3/4 is not its best side. Other angles are much more complementary.

Not a fan of the big old fin, but the rest looks plenty aggressive.

It's pretty hideous, but I appreciate functionality of it.

I read somewhere that those fins don't actually do a whole lot for stability, but they let the teams sell more sponsorship space.

First thing I thought of with the vertical fin implementation was "wow that space will make for a nice mobile billboard" followed by "so much for side pans of LMPs". Totally destroys the side profile of the cars.

Aircooled
Yeah if anything, it makes it more susceptible to cross winds...
