I don't have any experience in this. But from pics I've seen the traditional is better, because if the softbox leaves a reflection the octagonal shape is much harder to remove.
Mr.D
Difference is the reflection of the light. With the softbox you get a square and with an octabox you get a more round and wider reflection.
Personally I like the reflection of a softbox better than an octabox.
For shooting a car I would buy the one that mounts faster, which is the octabox because its an umbrella model.
But it depends.. why do you want to buy one? I only use them for interiors but I also have studio lights and not speedlights.

Watch these
this is how much work it takes to mount a softbox like the one on in your link

Most soft/octaboxes are made to only be used in a studio and not outdoors, so choose one that mounts fast.

i want to buy some softbox cause i have hard shadows if i made photo with girls and cars , and i think for people sofbox its great, and for cars , i think the light will be more nice and not concentrate in some point. Mr.D do u have some photo to show me with softbox outside please. ?
GolfuletzStudio
the first softbox it s realy hard to mount , i have Cactus Vivitar FK36 o it s speedlight not studiolight , i can mount on softbox/octogn ?
Mr.D
You cant use a softbox that has a studio light adapter (the metal ring back on the softbox) with a speedlight, but you can use the umbrella tip version on your rumanian site if you buy a holder (see below). There are also special softboxes that has you can use with speedlights like this one:

Umbrella solution with a combination of
this

and use it with a white umbrella

i had some of those octobox umbrella's. i hated them because they looked as bad as direct flash, granted they were from ebay. i ended up cutting out the black part and now i use them as regular shoot through umbrellas lol.

looking at quality of light on the subject (the guy) the softbox and octabox don't seem to differ from each other or am i missing something here? Don't mind the reflection on the car.
Mr.D
That was my point with these pictures. All of these boxes work in the same way.
The light is very similar except for the shape of the reflection and the witdh of light outreach depending on the size of the box.
