Just got back from Oklahoma last night. e46, yeah I know. But my M3s sucked balls, and I wasn't ready for 10k on another M3.

2001 330i, 5sp, cold weather & premium package. It was driven by a 28 yo girl for the last 5 years, is all original, and flippin clean. Got it for a song too.

I like it, a lot. Clean, quick, xenons, has a ton of amenities (which my e36s didn't have), 4 doors, utility, blah blah blah. I'm very happy with the purchase. It's no e46 m3, and it doesn't have the facelift- but I can't win them all.

... except for the part where I was 130 miles into my drive home and the alternator took a shit. Somehow I drove 50 miles on the battery to the bmw dealership in springfield missouri, where they wanted $550 for the laternator and $200 for labor- and it was 3pm by that time already. So I find out that the only 330i compatible alternator carried by parts stores (autozone, oreillys) happened to be 4 min away, with only one in store, at $330.

A 2 hour, $530 delay later... I was back on the road with my new car! woop.

pics.

17's are small....

And thus the cycle starts anew.

I am going to say 4 weeks till this one gets sold.
Vadvagool
What happened to the old one? Did you end up selling it?

That would be my over/under bet right there.
Aircooled
lol.

Neither of those wheels belong on that car.

what are the maintenance records?
Razor
Woman drove this for 5 years? Have you checked the clutch?

How did you get it out of her kitchen?
hexagone
Honestly- there are no maintenance records in hand.

I know one of the control arms have been changed, the window regulators, tires, brakes, battery- standard stuff. It has 105k, and has been maintained, but not on par to perhaps... enthusiast spec.

The things it'll need pretty soon are shocks and the recommended cooling overhaul. But since it was a short-drive commuter car in a non-salty state... it has very little wear. She was also HOT.

The clutch grabs high, btu doesnt slip. I mean hey... 105k on a stock clutch is a good bit. That'll be due in maybe 10-15k.

I hear that adds 15 horsepower.

I can't see any of the pictures of the said car.
BlackJack
I'd say about a month or 2 for this one.

Get with the program.

Hex, from my experience, when BMW clutches grab low they are on their way out. When they grab high, that's just them doing what they do.
OHirtenfelder
Um.....about a week until a larger 'underlying' problem is discovered. Then another week or so trying to see if it's fixable, which it won't be (not with Hex's budget at least) and the decision will be made to sell it again. And within a month of today the car will have moved on to some other person and we, here at DS, will have a new thread started by Hex, called: " My new, new, latest, newer car".

That's my bet.
moe
Nice. Not digging the wood shift knob though. You should bin it for a Momo piece or something. The wheels aren't great either, but I'm sure you've got that covered.
SwissWhiskey
Get some CSL wheels on there.

Momo would look like shit in an stock interiored BMW, if anything replace it with an all black ///M shifter.

First order of business:

Please. The original orange is just too harsh.

Those look shit, surely there is a better option?
dcho
maybe its a car enthusiast thing.. but i dont understand sometimes. why dont you just save up and buy a legitmate car? not to knock on the e46 or anything.
Aircooled
Haha, when did bmws stop being legitimate cars?

Aircooled
Point taken, but those aren't 3ers.
moe
Yeah, I was just taking a cheap shot at BMW, I think dcho was alluding to Hex's car-buying habits. I mean he has a 135 himself.
dcho
yeah, like i said, not to knock the e46 or bmws in general. just that it seems that with all the money and time spent on the past cars, you could have potentially saved up for one with a less problems. but congrats regardless, maybe its addictive to buy cars hehe

So...

Ordered a set of FK silverline coilovers.

And my long overdue plates came in... which were supposed to be on the purple M3.

LOL

Maybe we should start a new thread about which cars are allowed to have gold rims... I only can think of the two examples I already mentioned.

Everyone get the sand out of your vagins, they're not on the car. Actually- they were only test fitted. I thought I could rock them, but I won't be.

Here's what's going on though, yours truly:

dukenukem
I win!

There is slam. There will be poke, and stretch.

You do still owe us a pants-eating video, you know.
