Nokie > nothing, unless they come up with a brilliant smartphone strategy, they'll just keep losing market share....no idea where this notion of Nokia superiority comes from, they've been making shit phones for the past few years.

I used to say I'd take a Nokia N97 over anything HTC, but I've since realized that HTC is completely better, considering you get either the best Android or WM experience possible from them, both of which hammer the aging Symbian OS interface with new and fresh designs like Sense UI. Face it, Nokia is in a downfall, while HTC, long being a niche market/speciality manufacturer, is finally on a huge upswing.

Yeah, by "shit phones" I don't mean they can't manufacture good phones. It's just that anything running any Symbian OS these days is a huge turn off, and that covers every Nokia, hence "shit phones."

I don't really see a problem with Symbian especially on my E71. The only thing I would take over it at this point is perhaps something with Android, I'm genuinely intrigued by it, but nothing's been offered as of yet here.

QFT. I was playing around with the new HTC Imagio and then played with the Droid. I have to say I like the Imagio a lot better than anything else and I'm getting it for Christmas biggrin.gif

Nice! I'd give a nut to swap my Touch Pro for a Touch Pro2 right about now, but the custom ROM I have installed will tide me over until I upgrade I think. tongue.gif

I had two HTC Hero's and they both sucked. Neither could last a day with barely any use, both of the phones got extremely hot, and lagged up after a while. I don't know if its HTC's fault exactly, but Android also needs a lot of work. I was hoping it'd be a better operating system than Windows Mobile where you wouldn't have to monitor everything going on and force close apps because going to "Close" doesn't close them. No company has yet to make a decent phone where I don't have to monitor and configure more than I do my laptop. Things as simple as cell phones should be left simple, I understand that people want features and I love them myself, but its just tiring when your cell phones has more problems then your computer AND finally when you decide to use it for something other than texting/internet/facebook/twitter/games/porn/music/etc and you decide to make a phone call your battery is dead or you have no service. Thats why I stick to my Blackberry, for the most part its a good phone, yes I'll agree the browsers not amazing and it gets kind of dull, but as far as actually being a phone, having battery life, and being able to communicate with other people, it works flawlessly and the keyboard is amazing.

Although, I am considering the Palm Pre or maybe waiting for the Blackberry Tour2 to come out (I'm on Sprint BTW). Oh yea and one last thing I'm considering getting an unlocked iPhone 3GS or maybe a Nokia N900 and using it on T-Mobile if I don't have to pay 3 arms and 4 legs a month. Sprint has legit plans $60 unlimited mobile to any cell phone, data, text, navigation, sprint tv, 3 #s unlimited, and 500 minutes for house lines (which I only call mine)..ballin..

Fair enough, though I doubt Nokia will just let Android take over the world just like that. Symbian will require a complete redesign to be competitive with the iPhone, Android, and Windows Mobile, and if they deliver, I'll stick with them. If they don't, I KNOW HTC's are awesome phones, and won't hesitate to pick one up with Android.

The HTC Hero, IIRC, was made to be a cheap version of the Droid. It's not as powerful or sturdy as the real Droid. Hence there lies the problem.

The Droid is made by Motorola, the Hero is HTC, if you mean the HTC Eris, which is just the Verizon version of the Hero, then I guess. After I returned the Hero I kind of forgot about it. I'm not going to lie the phone was sick, but it was just useless because if I did anything more than send like a couple texts during my morning classes at school, I'd have no battery by my night class. It was just really restricting, I couldn't use anything on the phone because I was so worried about not having battery for when I really needed it. Actually to go off on a small tangent, the battery on my phone died one thursday and I didn't get out of my physics lab until pretty late, I texted my girlfriend letting her know that my phone died, but I didn't have a chance to tell my parents, my whole world literally flipped upside down. People thought I was like lost, kidnapped, dead, etc. I usually get shit for being on my phone too much and the one time I didn't use my phone everyone trips out lol..
BlackJack
Yeah, it's the same thing. It's the shit version of the Droid so it's expected.
DB9
The keyboard on the Droid is utter shit. Completely flat. I actually found the Eris alot more better built then the Droid.

Alternative to flat keyboard?

Hello Droid Eris. How are you?

Huh? Usually for slide out keyboards like that, the buttons are raised a little bit (G1 for example). The Droids are completely flat.

By raised I'm pretty sure you mean "bubbled" out or have some altitude change to each of the keys themselves, which, IMO, makes or breaks a slide-out keyboard.
DB9
Yea exactly. They have a little curvature to them, so you can differentiate between the keys. The Droid doesn't have that smile.gif
redls1bird
just like anything else, you can get used to it. I have no problem at all slapping out emails on my droid. That be said, the worst physical keyboard>t/s keyboard any day of the week.

Amen. It's one of many reasons why the iPhone is insanely overrated.
BlackJack
Well, it is confirmed that I will be getting the Imagio tomorrow biggrin.gif. Bye bye Storm, Hello Imagio!

seconded. Touch screen keyboards are terrible. The iPhone has probably gotten the closest to mastering that, and even then its not that easy to use. The android ones are just laggy and terrible

Great choice... you're going from a miserable load of fail to an epic piece of mobile craftsmanship. May I ask though, why Imagio over TP2?
BlackJack
TP2? Oh Touch Pro 2? I've had a bad experience with the slide out keyboards and prefer to stay away from them. Don't get me wrong I like them but the s/o keyboards are a major turn off for me. Same with the Droid. Flat s/o keyboard wtf?
porsche944
honestly, i love the iphone keyboard system, with the smart whatevertheycallit that knows what you mean to type when you dont hit the exact keys you want, paired with the multi-touch functionality and about a year practice, I can bang out a paragraph with two thumbs as fast as I can on a computer, and I can one thumb while driving w/o looking. Its all about what you are used to.

TLDR: The iPhone keyboard is amazing, the learning curve is definitely important though.

10 characters less and that would have earned a DIAF. Probably still should.
