i want to hate it.. but.. i honestly don't think it's that bad.

I've got no problem with a windshield. Shit, the Ducati Desmosedici has a windshield, and motor vehicles don't get much more performance-oriented than that. It's not like they put in heated seats or a Bose sound system or something.

sorry for being ignorant....but.....will it "block" the intake?....the intake will still suck air....but i think there will be a significant amount of air deflected by the windshield....not expert in fluid mechanic.....

I don't like the "fun-for-all-the-family" photos they've taken of it!

Haha, yeah, what the hell? It's not a bad option. I'd love to be able to remove it and reattach it myself if I had one.

i wonder how many bugs used to get sucked into the engine before. hahah

I don't know much about this either, but my assumption is that you may lose a bit of the ram effect, which might give you a few extra bhp at full speed, however the engine is quite capable of sucking in air on its own.

If I'm not mistaken, the air will drop due to a change in air pressure once it has passed over the windscreen. I think the lady's hair in the pictures illustrates this. This change in air deflection would allow a significant amount of air to be sucked into the intake, even with the windshield.
goota
negative. basically think of it like high speed = low pressure, low speed = high pressure. so there is a high pressure area behind the windscreen, and low pressure all around it, its definitely hurting the intake. Although the engineers probably designed it to that the eddy's created by the windscreen ram strait into the intake, that would be cool.

It makes it look like a boat...it really takes all the aggression out of it. Bleh sad.gif

I assume most people who drive Atoms around do so with a motorcycle helmet with a plexi vision screen on the helmet.
BadBoi
I would still rather opt for the twin bubble windscreen.

Riding in a car without a windshield is terribly uncomfortable. I think I could suffer the performance hit (if any) and any aesthetic loss for the comfort of the shield.

Helmet or no, that'll strain the neck muscles a lot after a while, especially if you're above about 70 mph. The buffeting of the head also increases your fatigue and could harm the 100% concentration you need for serious track driving or backroads play. Ride a naked motorcycle at speed and see for yourself. Like I said, there's a reason sportbikes have windshields.

The SV will probably be the last "naked" bike I own, even though I like how naked bikes look.

The airstream around the driver's head in the Atom is much more protected than on a motorcycle or, as I've experienced, a Caterham.
eraser_rx
cos i was thinking of convertible cars......the air will blow to the back of your neck....that's why they have the wind deflector which is a screen you put at the back of the seats...

but ya....the engine should be able to suck air on its own....
