I also went for the Cobalt SS. It's simply the most legitimate performance car here.

I also like the Spec V (it's a good all-rounder for the price) and the R32 (sweet sweet VR6 engine note and the best looking one here) but if you want to really thrash a car, the Cobalt's the best choice by far. Based on my experience with the supercharged model, Chevy got the handling nigh perfect on the SS.

well 8:22.85...close enough.

I trust that the number is legit. And damned impressive, of course. That's quicker than a Porsche 993 Carrera was (slower than a 996 3.4, though, but still damned impressive).

Calibur, SE-R and HHR are hideous.

Cobalt is a bit to plain in my eyes, and FWD. I respect what it can do, but after the super charged version we used to got, I would always feel like I got less car.

R32 is cool, but for $8000 less, I can have a car which is only lacking 26bhp, 10ft\lbs of torque, still has an awesome AWD layout, and is >300lbs lighter (which would make up for a bit of the power deficit).

WRX for me!

Haha, stole the words straight out of my mouth. tongue.gif Not to mention, it has better gas mileage than the R32 and it has a real transmission.

If I had to actually buy one of these, it'd be the WRX. I'm not a Volkswagen fan, and Subaru's quality, reliability and very impressive AWD system give me it's vote.

The WRX is still by far the best built all around racer amongst the lot.
Also, having the R32 in here is stupid.

I had to pick where the R32 would go...I know it's pricy for this group, but it's softer and slower than the STi and Evo (and the other cars in that group). So while it fits into the higher group in terms of price (though it would be cheap up there), in terms of capability and intent it's more in line with these cars.

I didn't expect it to be winning the vote here, I thought people would bitch about how fat and expensive it is and pick something else. Hell, I think it's too fat and expensive and I'm a VW fan so that's why I picked the Cobalt tongue.gif

it's most likely me being cynical, but I often wonder how "stock" these cars are when they post these head scratchingly quick times. Are they on stock tires? Was anything done to the computer? Was the boost turned up? Was it a blue printed engine?

It's one of the reasons that I normally consider 'Ring times to be completely irrelevant.

I went with the WRX on this one. I don't know how it compares to the 2004 model that I drove but it epitomizes the Boy Racer car.

I kinda like the way the HHR looks. They look good in black IMO.

a black HHR SS Panel van with those huge chrome wheels plus some big ass brembo BBK with red calipers would look sinister as fuck.


I, of course, voted for the R32. It does everything well, a balance of luxury, practicality, balls-out performance, and exclusivity.

Honorable mention in my book goes to: Cobalt SS Turbo. The aftermarket potential will be ridiculous, it is cheap and probably has a good warranty. And the cobalt is a pretty good handler, too.

^ I think he meant it in the way, that we know he's a fanboy, and very rarely votes for something non-VAG. Not that that's a bad thing. VAG has makes a very soild line-up of cars across the board.

I wouldnt waste my time on any of these cars, but since I voted...

R32: Too Fat
HHR SS: Ugly as fuck
Sentra SE-R: see HHR SS, despite LSD
Caliber SRT-4: see Sentra SE-R
WRX: see Caliber SRT-4

So I picked the Cobalt SS, I cant say its a looker, but at least its not as douchy as the HHR, and the fact it has an optional LSD to deal with all that power wins it.
