Anyone who doesn't vote for the Gallardo Spyder is a communist.
PBB
The obvious choice for lil' ol' communist me is the only car with a real roof. Lambo gets honorable mention.
clarkma5
Though I love the Lambo, I much prefer the Gallardo coupe, so the spyder starts out with that deficit already. Add in my porsche love, its hard top, and the fact that it's an amazing car, and you've got a 911 Turbo vote on your hands!
Tirminyl
I dislike spyders so that eliminates everyone except the Porsche. Though it is nice, I am forced to ask the question: Why isn't the 997 GT3 on this list?
PBB
The GT3 is in the "track toys" category, the poll should be up later today.
moe
I voted for the Bentley. Just put the top down, crank up your favorite music, and cruise. It's just so chill. Not to mention it's gorgeous both inside and out.

Cool, thanks.

The Porsche says, "Look I'm rich and I bought the same 911 as everybody else."

The Lamborghini says, "Look I'm really fuckin rich and bought the same Lamborghini as everybody else."

Lambo for me.
leif
^wow...um...intellegent post

911 for me...guess I'm a Communist

I wonder why Porsche has avoided using paddles with its Tripronic transmission. I don't know if the buttons are easier to use, I would assume not. Maybe the DSG equipped 997 Turno coiming out in 2007 or 2008 will have paddles instead of buttons?
marcos_eirik
Without a shadow of doubt, the 997 Turbo, the perfect all weather, all season supercar...
Frederf
The Bentley... sorry, I don't have that much of a gut yet. I would enjoy it's comfort and refinement. But it's still giving in to old age now, isn't it?

The BMW... sorry, I didn't make my millions selling porn in So. Cal. You can just see the slime come off the guy driving it. It's not the driver, but the car that "slimes" you.

The Lambo... hmm, kinda girly, kinda flashy, but a heck of a lot of style and fun. When it's that fast the extra 0.2 seconds lost because you have a convertible doesn't matter. In fact, + to the convertible

The Porsche... definately the car for someone who wants a "driver's" car. All weather, all times, stately, beautiful, a work of art.

The Porsche or the Lambo... oh geez oh geez decisions. The Porche, for when the Lambo is just too much and you want to be understated.
infinity
A tough toss-up between the 911 and the Gallardo for me. I like them both for different reasons, but in the end i don't think i could resist the Lambo. Gallardo Spyder gets my vote, the 911 is a very close 2nd though.

I'm a German communist.

Bentley . For the sheer oppulence .
eighteenseconds
convertiblez = suck.

porsche.
Easton
Can't beleive that i've voted for the 911 Turbo as well, though i'd buy the Gallardo Spyder in a heart beat. I know the 911 Turbo is a superior performance car, and practical.
White RSX
Somebody screenshot that post before Easton deletes it in a month.
Boxster17
Turbo without question. My second choice would be the M6 though.
GreyGhost
The turbo is my choice... duh. Plus it's 3.8 liter now.

No, still 3.6.

any word on weather they will bore it out for the GT-2?

I was reading about a european tuner (DMS) who cracked the ECU of the 997 Turbo, apparently they got 540BHP and 535ft/lb of torque. The company estimates that with a sport exhaust the power figure could rise to 580bhp. They also changed the rev limmiter in 6th, and got the car up to 208MPH. (remember, this is with out changing or altering a single mechanical component)

These figures sound like they would be about where the 997 GT2 should be...so maybe there wont be any need to do much more for the it, engine wise at least.
dukenukem
The Lambo .. anything else is just too ugly.
caymanNCSU
If it was the hard top Gallardo I would take it but got to get the 911 turbo. who voted for that piece of crap bentley? it not exotic the in true sense of the word.
infinity
Read "rare, expensive and 6.0 liter twin-turbocharged DOHC 48-valve W12 with 552 HP and 479 ft.-lbs. of torque under the hood (or so) under the hood"

I did. Would you care to share your definition of exotic?
leif
You know, at the risk of givin' ya'll more ammo to throw at me, I kind of agree that the Bentley is not an exotic, as we define it in the car world. True, given its low production numbers and >8 cylinders it is exotic technically speaking, but I don't think it has the "Wow!" factor that a true exotic has.

It is meant to be understated and discrete, at least compared to other cars of its ilk.
Tirminyl
The only exotic on that list is the Lambo.
PBB
A Bentley is not a supercar. It's certainly rare and expensive enough with the image to be an exotic though.

The Lambo is the only supercar.
leif
I would argue that the 911 Turbo is a supercar, despite having more humble roots. (at least as humble as the Bentley's Phaeton roots)

Touche Leif. Just as you, and perhaps CaymanNCSU, believe the Bentley lacks a certain "Wow!" factor (as you so described it), I have the same view of the 911 Turbo, which both of you have voted for. To me, the Turbo is merely a tarted-up version of an already existing performance car. To say that is "tarted-up," I'll admit is something of an overstatement, as the 911 Turbo is a great performance car in its own right, possibly one of the greatest ever made. However, I find it hardly exotic. Its plethora of intakes and spoilers does nothing for me. However, the Bentley is truly exotic in my mind. It has gorgeous, and truly cohesive styling. Its interior doesn't look as if it could have come out of just any car; rather it has a hand-crafted feel, with an "exotic" blend of chrome, wood, and leather that works with the overall character of the car. I could've just as easily voted for the Gallardo with it's "exotic" mix of good-looks, and supercar performance.

I think, Leif, that you have confused the term "supercar" with the term "exotic." In this poll, the M6 is neither a supercar nor an exotic, and the 911 Turbo is just barely exotic. The Bentley and the Lambo are the true exotics here, and are both of an entirely different breed. The Lamborghini is a supercar, and the Bentley is a GT.
PBB
The 911 performs like a supercar but then so does the C6 Z06. And I don't think many people would consider a tarted up Vette to be a supercar, same applies to a tarted up 911. The 911 Turbo does have however, the panache, image and rarity to be an exotic, but just barely. In recent times, Porsche's only true exotic or supercar is the Carrera GT.

I would classify these cars as such:
  • Bentley. Exotic: Yes Supercar: No
  • BMW. Exotic: No Supercar: No
  • Lambo. Exotic: Yes Supercar: Yes
  • Porsche. Exotic: Yes, barely Supercar: No

Edit: I didn't see Moe's post when I typed up mine. We just happened to agree almost exactly. rishi

I would classify these cars as such:

* Bentley. Exotic: No | Supercar: No | GT/Luxury: Yes
* BMW. Exotic: No | Supercar: No | GT/Luxury: Yes
* Lambo. Exotic: Yes | Supercar: Yes
* Porsche. Exotic: No | Supercar: No | Sportscar: Yes

Who are you talking to leaf? I don't see anyone "trying to instigate shit," just voicing their opinions.

BMWs aren't exotic! tard.gif

Bentleys are expensive and therefore exclusive, but too understated and not flamboyant enough to be exotic.

Porsche 997 Turbo is a supercar (performance) and is expensive, but not got that drop dead gorgeous, "other planet" exotic look and could easily be used as an every day car.

The Lambo is the only exotic in that list, in my book. But what does exotic mean?

A few dictionary definitions of Exotic:

1. of foreign origin or character; not native; introduced from abroad, but not fully naturalized or acclimatized: exotic foods; exotic plants.
2. strikingly unusual or strange in effect or appearance: an exotic hairstyle.
3. of a uniquely new or experimental nature: exotic weapons.

When talking about cars, I would say it means: fantastic performance, gobsmacking sound, neck swivelling, knock 'em dead looks that you feel really self-conscious to be seen in, aswell as impractical and exorbitantly expensive! biggrin.gif

My penis fits that description.
1. To the ladies, its a forum object that is not in its full naturalization.
2. Its big
3. A successful experiment by nature created solely to destroy all beavers.
Import vs. Domestic
The one, the only, the Porsche.

Mind you, I still have some reservations about this car given the sterilization the 996 Turbo (non-GT2) received. Still, it's a legendary car in a long line of legendary cars. I just wish I could find a 993 Turbo S (as if I could buy it anyway!)

Frankly, the 993 Turbo S was very soft. The standard Turbo is the discerning driver's choice when it comes to 993s (actually, I think I'd take a Carrera S myself...)

I didn't know that about the 993 Turbo S. sad.gif Still, it's the last of the air-cooled Turbos, so that has to count for something.

And I agree with you when it comes to Porsche of choice. Ideally, I just want a 997 Carrera S, but that wasn't listed in the options biggrin.gif
clarkma5
I meant I'd take a 993 Carrera S. Out of all 911s evar, the 997 GT3 is my pick, though I also love the 964 Turbo 3.6 a lot, as well as the 996 GT2.
PAULIE_D
Lambo.. as this is the most "exotic" on the list of choices.
