From Wikipedia:

QUOTE
The Aston Martin DB5, released in 1963, was a slight upgrade from the DB4 which preceded it. It is most famous for being the first and most recognised James Bond car, seen in Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and the next Bond film Casino Royale.

The major difference between the DB4 and DB5 is the engine the DB5's was enlarged from 3.7 L to 4.0 L. Another addition was the 5-speed transmission option. The standard engine, with three SU carburettors, produced 282 hp (210 kW), propelling the car to 148 mph (238 km/h).

Weight: 1565 kg (3450 lb)
Engine: 4.0 L (3995 cc/243 in) straight-6
Power: 282 hp (210 kW) at 5500 rpm
Torque 390 Nm (288 ftlbf) at 3850 rpm
Top Speed: 230 km/h (143 mph)
0-60 mph (97 km/h) Acceleration: 8.1 s

It's just one of those cars that has been taken and blown so completely out of proportion. I don't care for that. Uncool.

I keep questioning how the cool walls supposed to work. Is it whether WE think the car is cool or is it whether GENERALLY the car is cool or not? If its the former, then yes, Clarkma, your opinion is valid, and everything Im going to say past this point is irrelevant. If its the latter, then it doesnt matter because the DB5 has the stigma of not only being a Bond car, and its also widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever. Not to mention it served as the inspiration for the DB7, which evolved into Astons current line-up, also widely-regarded as a gorgeous line-up (yes, Im well aware of your opinion on current Astons Clarkma). On top of all this, as I pointed out in the Cayman thread, there is the allure of the Aston Martin name. Aston is easily one of the "coolest" car manufacturers today. I mean, when Ford announced that it might consider selling it, it wasnt only car manufacturers who were interested, other luxury brands expressed interest as well. If I remember correctly, Louis Vuitton and Cartier were interested in the brand. With all that said, EVEN if I didnt like the car, it would be difficult to deny this car was anything but frozen. Just my two cents.

(Yes, Im fully aware there were absolutely no apostrophes used, but for some reason everytime I hit my apostrophe key, the search function in Firefox pops up.)

Damn. Oh well, I still think it's frozen.

This is basically the coolest car ever made.

Whats wrong with Roger Moore?! All Astons are cool

Frozen....

Still Sexah. Frozen.

I'm going to vote for uncool because I've seen these cars in person, the racing versions too and honestly they look rather clumsey. A small observation, go online and look for pictures of the car. I'd say almost 90% of the images are the front and front 3/4 view. Side shots are about 5% and the remaining 5 are rear and rear 3/4 shots. The car just looks horrible behind.

While I won't contest that Roger Moore was a bad Bond, I maintain that Timothy Dalton was the worst.
DakianDelomast
Wow I just saw the poll options. If anything Roger Moore was the ORIGINAL bond and Sean connery was the hack...

Bleh, I have to agree with you dry.gif

From the back it just looks like every other British car from that era, sadly...
Dr. Strangelove
Roger Moore turned the series into a comedy. Dalton was great, really gritty and he turned Bond into a real person. Brosnan had potential, but they kept on giving his aweful scripts that turned 007 into Die Hard. Connery is the best, hands down. Although this new guy looks alright.

Also, you guys say that it has bad angles and what not. I agree with you, but if you saw one cruising down the road, you know you would say "Oh cool! A DB5!".

"Oh cool! A car accident!"

I thought that the association with being cool makes a car a cool car, not because of looks. James Bond(no matter who the actor) is a cool character. The car is definitely an element to his coolness which makes it cool.
dukenukem
Its a cool car.

Dalton should be forced to live out the rest of his days on the island of elba...along with pat sayjack, richard simmons, that "max headroom" guy and chris-cross...

and there should only be one syphilius infected whore with herpies scabs all over...and nothing to eat but "lunchables"...and not the kind with nachos or pudding...just the normal kind with green meat, some chese and stale crackers.

and every week a lottery is held to see who goes back to the real world...and richard simmons always wins...but the boat never comes...or it comes really close...then calls him a fruit and turns around before he can get there.

and there are box jelly fish...lots of them...

... In spite of that fact he is still way better than Roger Moore.

Pierce Brosnan cool, because imo Brosnan was the best Bond.
