I thought the spiritual ancestor of the Miata was the Lotus Elan...I dunno about frozen though. It's definately cool. My advisor back in boarding school had a nice red one...shame about what happened to them after the got rid of the chrome bumpers.

Great little car, a true classic.

And so much nicer than the next generation with its huge black front bumper.

I think I would take a MGB GT over the convertible though...

Interesting thing about the Miata and the Lotus Elan. Here's a post from Bob Hall, one of the leading designers on the Miata project back in the late eighties, about the connection between the Miata and the Elan.
