I shot this crazy ass car a few months ago in Columbus before Import faceoff and I can honestly say, I don't think I will ever shoot a car of equal quality in my lifetime. This is the owner's race car, but he also has a 800 hp S4 daily driver and an absurd hp corvette. The shop that did most of the the work was Accelerated Performance in Toledo, Ohio and a lot of the engine work was done by David Localio at Headgames. Just to name a few things that were crazy to me aside from the horsepower and 1/4 time was the fact that the engine is completely polished and the dash is carbon fiber, covered in suede. It's like this supra has a disassociative disorder; a drag monster, stuck inside of a show car's body. This issue comes with a special edition calendar so be sure to check it out. Also check out my blog later next week for a guest post by Art Director/Photographer of Import Tuner, Clint Davis (Sonic Zoom), for a video build up of the compositing that went into this cover image.

The original shot used for the cover...

"The Ultimate Sleeper"

Hahahahaha

But wow, that first picture is brilliant.

This is in no way a sleeper.

haha if you read the article, the last paragraph mentions how the owner plans on taking the chute and drag radials off and running it on the street, to and from his kid's soccer practice, after he breaks the current stock-bodied Supra quarter mile record of 7.71 and then the 246mph fastest standing Mile world record at the Texas Mile.

There was a lot of work done to keep this car looking somewhat in stock form on the exterior, at least, at-a-glance. The fenders were reworked to remain stock looking while being able to fit 29.5x11.5 in slicks.

Two things.

First : BRAVO! The first shot is KILLER! Loving the rig stuff as as well. Great contrast on the tire smoke, that is something I normally struggle with.

Second : How can it be the "Worlds fastest Supra" if it isn't the worlds fastest 1/4-mile Supra or 1-mile Supra?

Anyway, great set. You sure did the car justice.

I think it was just an assumption, but it ran the 7.81 sec 1/4 on an old setup when it only had 1300hp. I guess they assumed the extra 300hp was enough to snatch the worlds fastest supra title. I don't know, I didnt write it. I'm just guessing.

But thanks for the compliments on the pics. smile.gif

Saw these in the book, they look really nice Jeff thumbs_up.gif

Nice! That 1st shot is really epic & followed by the 2nd.

Just for the sake of the article being about this stupidly fast Supra, I would have maybe tried to get a longer exposure on the rig shots to get more blur (more perception of speed) in them. But seeing as it was probably the middle of the day, it's far from bad.

I think getting the cover is the best prize!

the photos look fantastic, but even without the drag radials and chute that car is hardly a sleeper tongue.gif

SFurstenborg
love the first with the burnout and the second rig, awesome series!

Thanks guys. Found this on another forum. Looks like the owner found out his magazine is out. smile.gif

The burnout shots does it for me, nice thick smoke.

The rigshots somehow feels wrong, maybe its because you know how much the chassis twist and turn when a beast like this is let loose on the quartermile. I think a panning shot of the real deal could be the solution.

Yeah, I thought about pitching the front end of the car up in photoshop, but never ended up doing it. Would be better, for sure. Track management wouldn't allow us to do any runs on the track though at the time of the shoot. The only time we could get access was early in the morning, so these shots were right after sunrise.

Wow. Honestly, the best set I have seen on here in a long time. Really well done, love everything about it and not a single thing I would change thumbs_up.gif
