Full Version: My summer holiday....

After the dismal summer that we got here in the UK the girlfriend and I fancied a warm-ish holiday, we were looking for weeks but we couldn't decide on a place so I left it with the girlfriend to book the holiday. My only remit was that it was warm and they served beer.

Where did she end up booking?

ICELAND.

Here's some photos from the holiday, we only had 4 nights and so we decided to do all the tourist tours, it meant that I couldn't take any super duper photos because of the circumstances, but we visited some super duper places. I definitely want to go back for a weeks and hire out a silly 4x4 and just tour the country with the camera.

I digress, onto the photos.....

Slightly on-topic for DS: A road, a mountain, some lava and water from the blue lagoon

A mountain

The Northern Lights (we were very lucky to see them apparently, they were there for about 4 minutes only and weren't exactly vibrant, hence why they're naff photos).

Not the Northern Lights

The Northern Lights

Don't fall off

That mountain, again

See the blue behind the mountains? That's a whopping great big glacier!

Neeeeeooooowwwwwwww

Some crazy dudes

A serious dude

Crooked view

A 5 minute walk from where I took this, they used to be-head people and throw them in the waterfall.

Lots of water, falling

Neeeeeeooooooowwwwww

Road outta the bus window.

Sunrise

A Church

Steam from the geothermal blue lagoon

Blue lagoon

A Geysir named Strokkur, I stroked myself pretty furiously when it errupted.

Me too! What a remarkable place. Haha doesn't seem too warm, but I'm sure they had beer! What sort of things do you like to shoot other than cars? I'm guessing landscape. wink.gif

It wasn't warm and they did have beer, but it was bloody expensive! Other than cars, I'm not sure what I like to photograph really. I'd love to have a bash at some proper landscape photography and fashion at some point.

I didn't think I was good at landscapes smile.gif Like I said earlier, I'd love the chance to do it properly some time. I'm thinking of going back in a few years for a couple of weeks. We stayed in Reykjavik as most of the tours etc started there.

I hadn't thought of that, I might have a photo of a car that could be comped, never done it before so I guess I should give it a bash smile.gif

Simply stunning, already admired them on Flickr. Iceland is high on my to-visit-list... And as stated on Flickr, you were quite lucky to catch the northern light!
//deanphoto
I had a bash...

Just doesn't look right to me, I'm not too into this whole comping thing, willing to give it another go though. I think the car's a tad angled.
