For World Rally Championship fans living in the U.S., it's been tough to keep up on the action, as domestic television coverage has been virtually nonexistent for some time now. That's about to change, however, as the series has inked a deal with Discovery Communications' HD Theater, a channel with an audience of 633 million. HD Theater has committed to show weekly coverage "from every round of the championship" beginning in October, and it will also air shows featuring related WRC content and news.

Hey it's a positive step. Also some talk about them wanting to bring a US round back to the WRC calendar, which will hopefully happen in a few years. While rally isn't exactly going to be the NASCAR huge in this country, thanks to the efforts of Block and Pastrana as well as tie-ins with motocross and marketing efforts by Mitsubishi and Subaru, rally is getting reasonably well known in this country at least among your average car enthusiast.

Agreed
Even my father-in-law would watch it when it was shown on Speedvision.

That's what I thought was happening here when I read the thread title. This isn't as awesome as that but it's definately an awesome step! dammit though, right after I no longer have access to an HD tv!

This is good for you guys, but the season will nearly be over by the time you get it! I guess they'll be showing reviews throughout the off season.

Right now there's very few commercials. Far fewer than Speedvision ever had when they covered rallies.

This thread makes me sad at what Speedvision became.
Also, ANY WRC coverage in the US is awesome. Slightly off-topic, where can I get good rally wrap-ups on torrents? I miss those on late night Speedvision so much, stopped following the sport after they dropped those.

Those same half-hour-a-day wrap ups can be had on any decent motorsport tracker. I could slip you an invitation to Racing Underground, midnight...

No worries for now, I've already had enough run-ins with my ISP for torrenting stuff. I get a new ISP in 2 weeks or so when I move, so I'll worry about it then.
