Hi all im Joe or better known as Stink

New to the forum so thought id say hi and post a few photos of my car, ive been doing photograpyh for about 5 months now and love it Automotive is one of the main areas I am concentrating on and at the end of the month will finalyl have a camera rig so I can get some rolling photos

Well here is my beloved Golf, have done a few changes but the list is long and still have lots to do

so far lowered on Eibach pro springs (will be fitting collies soon want to go lower), DSG R32 Intake, Forge 007p, smooth airbox/piper x filter/ R-Tech Stage 1 150 - 210BHP,Audi S8 18" alloys, done a few minor exterior things mainly the front and rear badge and grill all comments welcome

Welcome. Nice ride - those wheels suit the car very well!
clarkma5
Those wheels do look good, generally it's a very clean car (not a fan of that blacked out grill emblem).

Don't go lower btw, MkIV suspension geometry gets ruined by lowering. Stock ride height (maybe down a half inch) works best in the front, you can lower the back a little more than that. If you go lower than that, the center of gravity and instantaneous roll center start to diverge and you get sloppier handling. Also, the camber curve on the front macpherson struts goes all positive if you lower it, killing your front end grip and causing massive understeer.

Very tasteful! Welcome!
moe
Oh god, another VW.
Phix
Looks great. The stance of the car is perfect and those wheels really do work with it.

Welcome to DS, btw.
Stink
cheers guys, i think ive only ever seen 1 other Golf with the S8 wheels so its a bit different to the others going for the subtle changes wink.gif
Stink

Good choice, the MkIV is such a badass car. Especially compared to the waste of space MkV. tongue.gif

Yeah, that morbidly obese, automatic load of shit is terrible... who the fuck would every buy that?

Can't wait to drive down to Lime Rock tomorrow. smile.gif

The MkIV R32 remains one of the best cars I've ever driven. I wish they had offered a more stripper version without the sunroof, heated seats, climatronic, etc. but oh well. Still great.

Do you happen to know what the difference is between the Mk V and Mk IV suspensions?
clarkma5
I don't know any of the specifics, they have the same basic layout (macpherson strut front, multi-link independent rear) but the geometries are, as far as I know, completely different, especially in the back.

Didn't the Mk IV have a reputation to understeer more than the Mk V? Or does that have more to do with the Haldex programming?
clarkma5
The MkV is supposed to have superior overall grip to the MkIV and I've also heard about improved transitional response, I don't think the understeer tendencies have changed a whole lot, at least not that I've ever heard.

I wonder if they have the same rear swaybar... because I remember my friend bragging about the thickness of the RS4 sway bar (22 mm) he installed on his A4, and then we found out that my car's is 22.6 mm.

EDIT: The one on the US-spec Mk IV R32 was only 15mm. I guess that answers that.

The main difference between the MkIV R32 and MkV R32 is that people actually like the MkIV tongue.gif

I think I might be the only person in the world who likes the Mk V sans mods.

Congrats on buying a real car.
Altostratus
you really can't say that when you own a fucking 1.6l balls-standard mazda3.
4wheelfreak
^his car has no real bearing on the definition of a 'real' car. Lots of people drive shit cars and know that they're shit.

I got rimzz dawg. That's bound to add another 50hp right there.

Uh but no, I forgot this guy did some work to his GTi. In any case he has an MkIV R32 now so what does it matter anymore.

Also, the only reason I still have my car is because I have no fucking idea what I'm doing after I graduate next May.
Stink
hahah cheers for the comments guys, as much as I loved my GTI and spend money on a remap and other things to make it more of a GTI the R wipes the floor with it hahaha

So yeah tomorrow its gettign a good clean, polish, wax etc just spent a good £70 on some new cleaning products

Then photo time!

And the Nosie the Miltek makes its epic
