Irfanview is completely free available at http://www.irfanview.com/
Playing around with Irfanview, I discovered it can also be used to make screensavers. They're rather simple as the inputs are pretty much which pictures are used, time delay and how they're sorted. But for most, that's all that's needed.
Here's how:
- 1. Fire up Irfanview and hit "F1" to bring up the help display. Search the index for "screensaver."
- Options to hide the mouse cursor and to add text are only applicable in the slideshow dialogue. (first screenshot)
Don't change the same options in the Full Screen Options tab of Properties. (second screenshot) - Ignore the "Advanced Options," these options don't apply to screensavers, just .exe slideshows.
- Background music can be used but it requires a plugin and is worthless in a screensaver anyways.
- Recommended options for all screensavers are indicated with an asterisk.

After saving the slideshow as an .SCR, search for all .scr files on your operating system hard drive and move the new .scr you just made into the same folder as the rest.
And here's a demo screensaver made using the same options as in the screenshots. It's of all the media photos of the Alfa Romeo, in total there are 29 1600x1200 pics.
