Hey all,
I finally have my own car. I got my license not a month ago, and i've just been using my mum's volvo (my fav car that i've ever driven, it's soo omuch fun). But my grandmother has upgraded to a Lexus IS200, so she sold her old car to me. It's got more than 200,000kms on it, and it's gearbox is dodgy with a capital D (u put your foot down in second going up a hill, and 10 secs later it goes to first and revs to like 3/4g :S). But hey, it's a car and it gets me from A to B, and it'll do until I getmy BMW

So today I was bored, and have been wanting to do some location scouting for a while, so I grabbed the keys and camera at 3pm in daylight savings on a very overcast day and went to the showground. needless to say the results are not jaw dropping, and the location really doesn't suit the car, but I was scouting this for a shoot of a Subaru that I would like to do some time soon, and IMO it's a great lcoation. Also the reason why this isn't posted in the photography thread.

Oh yeh it's a 1993 Toyota Cressida Grande. I kinda like the looks, it's got a kind of old school jap look, like the old soarers. The first thing I wanna do is get some of those 5 spoke wheels, with the really wide spokes, I think they might look good on the car.

I think that dirt road looks like it will be a good spot for the subaru. Do u know what color it is?
What sorta BMW do you want?

It's either going to be dark green (worried it might blend in too much) Or black (maybe same problem).

I might need to find a silver/white one to get the most out of the location.

Well I have an engine swap planned. But alas I cannot do it until I am 20/21, because of this new legislation which prohibits a p P plater from doing performance mods.

But yeh i'm going to swap with an RB26DETT, not going to do too much in the way of performance, maybe just a few things. The donor car will probably come from the wreckers. But i'm not going to be stupid and leave the chassis and drivechain unchanged. So I will upgrade suspenson, chasis regiditiy, and brakes, will probably get transmission from the same donor car as well.

But at the moment, that is just a thought. Until then it's just wheels, and possibly a body kit.

why dont you put a TT supra engine in, seeing as its a toyota not a nissan and good luck swapping the engine without doing drivetrain and chassis modifications.

Just a quick little story:
I was going up this huge hill near my house; it's like a 45deg angle, and goes for almost 1km liek that, I was going up it, the gearbox decided to go for 2nd @ about 2500revs, this put me at 50km/h...the speedlimit, but it started to slow down, so I put my foot down, and it shifts down to first, spins the wheels a bit (I get sideways a little) and revs to about 5000revs and takes off up this hill. It was quite fun

Maybe this car isn't so bad afterall. But I can't find any performance figures on it :S

No Turbo.supercharge, V8 for provisional license holders. I have a provisonal license, so Holden (V8) and Volvo (turbo) are out of reach. But I got an exemption for the Volvo. So if you have a full license you can drive whatever you bloody want.......i can't wait.

Holy shit kid. Do you realize your grandmother stepped down from this car when she bought the IS200? A Toyota 1JZGTE fits perfectly in this car, no Nissan RB needed. You can even get a kit to couple it to the Getrag six speed. And the best part is you have the newer bodystyle so you can even use the 7MGTE.

Really, why?

The govnt intorduced it to curb the P plater death toll. But I think that was a stupid move...i mean you can kill yourself in any car, no matter how has or powerful. A better move would have been to introduce a compulsory advanced driver training course.

To balance things out soarer - in NSW we don't have the near zero tolerance on speeding (i.e no more than 3km/hr over the speed limit)

...unlike our Victorian counterparts

We're usually given 10% or so over the speed limit

Though there's talks going on about introducing zero tolerance on speeding to our state as well - bah

And sorry for the strain on your motoring choice Mitch, but since i've long been off my P plates I hope they tighten the restrictions on P platers as much as possible

It's funny as hell seeing young hoons with blaring stereos and stickers having to resort to less powerful cars

And I think if you put a P-plater in any car they are likely to kill themselves...i'd rather my kids be in a brand new commodore with 150kW than a 1989 Mitsubishi colt with 45kW....its a much much much safer car...screw the power...its safer. You can still go 100km/h in a 60 zone in a Colt...so yeh. I think it's stupid what the gov't has done..I mean the way it is now, you can drive a 150kW commy/falcon, but cant drive a 150kW Volvo, cause it has a turbo.....
