I recently finished a revamp of my own portfolio to separate cars from weddings and everything else that I do, and was hoping to get some feedback from the Dieselstation community. I decided to go back to a full flash site and hope to pull some SEO through my blog, which I plan on updating 2-3 times a week.

Comments, critiques, hate mail, whatever, all feedback is welcome!

Thanks all!

I was going through your website the other night. The content and layout are top notch, I really like them. Navigating is easy too.

My only grime is a major one, and it is that it feels like it takes an eternity to go from pic to pic, going from 0-100%.

Agreed.

Also, the music is awful. I don't want to listen to some terrible dance music whilst looking at a photographers portfolio.

IT looks great on 1920x1200 resolution. Does it work on lower rez too? (i.e 1280x800)

I really dig the music, I'm a fan of Van Dyk's music but i'd be weary if your clients would love it too.

I'm very conservative and wouldn't use music like that because they might hate it. It's also extremely loud - the vol should be lower as default. But I dig it sooo much

- i like the music (1/2's my fav), but it might not be to everyone's taste...but as easton said, its too loud. maybe add a couple of more tracks for variety and longevity.
-image load is so bloody slow. but its a mighty impressive portfolio.
-love the whole interactive feel, the colour change and the design. my res is 12*8, and it looks fine.
-maybe a separate navigation to tell us who your clients are?
- overall its one of the better prof sites. the flash isnt annoying, infact makes the experience cosy...how the menus are right below everything, plus the music adds a feel to it. but the photos are clearly the center piece of the site, as it should be.
- i find that its more appealing if photographers do the About description in 1st person rather than 3rd.

(ps. ive read about Fred's petfrog, lucky that you got to shoot it)

I must agree with some of the points. Great content, easy enough navigation, but it does take a god awful long time for the images to load.
But very cool site IMO.

Great content, nice simple site design but the images are a bit slow to load. I'd ditch the music - its OK but I cant picture an AD sitting at his desk on a Monday morning appreciating being hit by that whilst trying to check a new snappers site.

I like the music is very dymanic. The pictures are taking 6-10 sec to load. I would like some arrows or something like when you click the pictire to jump to the next one. Impresive pictures!!!!!

The load times always came down to quality vs. optimal loading time. I tried to optimize them as best I could without doing away with quality, but most of them are pretty high res (site is scalable to 1920x1200 @ full res) and this ends up killing the load times. However, I will try my best to optimize them a bit more to speed things up.

Music is always a tricky subject. And I had no idea about the volume issue - I will change that asap. I've been struggling with keeping the music or doing away with it both on my automotive site and on my wedding site, and I think I may end up axing it. This should also help with load times.

Either way thanks guys for all the feedback thus far - it is much appreciated!

Pros:
- excellent/mind blowing/very impressive/outstanding content, of course,
- excellent layout,

Cons:
- a bit slow (maybe you could use a pre-loading feature for your gallery)
- agressive music! (too loud, not to everyone's taste, and worse: if I open two windows from your site, I'll get two music streams at the same time)
- it should not go full-screen by itself. Most of us have big/huge screens, and we are used to browse in windowed mode (especially true for mac users).

Again, excellent work.

I like the overall of it and I like the music (my taste) but as everone has already said, it might not be
everyones taste. Did you btw ask the music producers if you can use the music on your website?
I'm trying to find some fitting music to mine but I suspect it would be worthless even asking for permission lol..

As for the website, I would work more on these:

for me it would be:

* logotype, dont like it at all..
* not being so "boxy" in example, menu and such.
* the copyright text, dont like it vertically like that.
* loading time is probably taking a little too long.

But damn great photos, I havnt seen these before..
I loved the BMW M6, Koenigsegg, Murcielago, Porsche 997 GT3 RS by the bridge shots!!!

If you've got full photosessions with these I would love to see.. smile.gif

I didn't listen to the music and you may want to consider getting rid of it as it is just something extra eating up bandwidth.

Pics look clean, but I don't think they need to be so big. Having more of a boarder would make your pictures seem more like photos than desktop backgrounds. The interface is clean, loaded quickly for me.

I can't get it to load in firefox.

Works in IE though. Looks schmick, and the music makes it feel like a computer game.

I like it.

...sorry for the second post. But I had to come back and say, I love the photos.

Oooh, diesel concatenated my two posts biggrin.gif sweet.
