I think that is pretty fucking hawt. I absolutely adore the changes they've made to it. And 260 HP is about 20 more than I expected them to get out of the turbo model.

Way to fucking go Pontiac!!!

A baseless guess (in terms of sources), but judging by the levels of standard equipment, I'm gonna shoot for ~$27k personally.

Actually this really only retains the Solstice's stupid trunk in terms of flaws (well, interior quality if you list that as a flaw, but I think the Solstice's interior is pretty nice). A lot of the solstice 2.4's problem is that it was overtired for its power...but with 260 HP and the same amount of rubber on the road, this car should be much much much more entertaining, as well as very quick.

The Solstice is already very quick. Grassroots Motorsports put it against a well sorted c-stock '99 Miata and the new '06 Miata on an autocross track and the Solstice came within .2 seconds of the '99 and completely obliterated the '06! The GXP should provide some entertainment against the Boxsters, S2000's, and Z4's (none of which rule their autox classes btw).

Honestly, that suprises the hell out of me. I expected the Miata, particularly the new one, to be quicker on an autocross track.

If the Solstice would be faster anywhere, I thought, it would be on a more wide-open track, where its taller gearing and grippier tires could really come into their own.

The new Miata is reportably underdamped. At 8/10ths it handles great but once you push it past that it starts to wallow and roll. Everyone's hoping that once the aftermarket starts to develop some shocks and sway bars the '06 will be more competitive.

This really surprised me, as everything I have read about the Solstice points out that its steering and pedal feel are wooden compared to the Miata. Furthermore I have also heard that the cabin seating position and seats leave alot to be desired in terms of performance driving...

Are we talking about a stock solstice here...or something which has been modified?

but I do aprove of this...what I was getting at earlier, was that this just sets the bar higher for the Gen III MS Miata, and while i doubt it will have as much power...MS excells at setting up Mazda chassis...
