I just wrote about it in User Rides. But yeah.

Engine seems willing, CVT transmission is a disaster.

I don't really see the benefit. The engine is a 2.0L 150bhp flat four. My Legacy with a 2.5 and a 4-speed auto gets as-good-as if not better MPG and makes 15% more power.

Any Subaru must be ordered in a Manual now... CVT Subaru's are brutal.

We have the traditional 5-speed automatic in our 2011 Outback 3.6, and its a great trans.

So at the last service my sister's 207CC got an ECU and transmission software update. It's changed the car. It's not awful anymore. It's average.

Maserati TC. I had a teacher in High School who was a car nerd and he drove one as his daily driver. He was also a friend of the family so when he and my dad left town he'd leave his car behind and he eventually gave me permission to give it a go. I was ecstatic! It would be my first go in what I thought was an Italian sports car. That was a let down. Throttle response was nonexistent, the engine was gutless, the interior was uncomfortable, the automatic transmission couldn't decided when it was best to shift and it shared its looks with the LeBaron. When I asked why he owned it, he said something along the lines of bridging the gap between needs and desires.

Also, I drove a rental Pt Cruiser. It was fine for "some car" and had things non-car lovers desired packaged in.

Eugh. Had another courtesy car this week. 2013 Toyota Matrix.

Hard to see out of. Dark interior. Absolutely no feedback from the controls. On the way to pick up my car I saw at least six of them. This is on a 10km drive. I have no idea why these are so popular.

You win.

Jogged my memory a bit.

I had one of these for a while.

Mazda GLC

It was about 15 years old when I was given it and its non-running sister. Between the two of them I made about 75 per cent of a whole car. I drove the sucked out rustbucket for a winter until the brakes failed completely. The mechanic I brought it to said it would cost several times the cost of the car to fix the brakes, but the scrappage fee would just about cover the cost of his inspection.

Closest thing I've ever driven to a death trap.

Drove a PT cruiser in high school driver's ed. What a nice blue piece of garbage.

Probably the worst was my grandmas 92(or something close to) Hyundai Excel. The funny thing is when she replaced it with a 2004 or so Hyundai elantra, it had the same EXACT door chime.

Anything by Mitsubishi. Their cars are simply terrible.

Got a brand new (5 km on it) Mitsubishi RVR from National Rental Cars in Vancouver recently, engine felt like it was going to blow up and die at any moment. A real contender for the worst engine ever made. Just thinking about it makes me pissed off, it should be illegal to sell such crap. Cheapest of cheap plastics and materials on the interior topped off the experience.

Meanwhile, Hertz in Edmonton had a Volkswagen Golf for me. Loved it.

Northpoint, I really like my roommate's '13 Lancer SE AWD. It feels a lot like a modern Protege to me: a little beefier in its construction with a little more grunt and more modern features, but still has that honesty of packaging (spacious interior for its exterior dimensions, a functional and reasonably attractive cabin that's trimmed out well for the price point, good visibility) and is a competent, enjoyable chassis. CVT and 2.4 combination gives pretty good fuel economy and good response as well. It's had enough time to be refined since its 2008 launch that it feels like a really well resolved thing. I like it.

I know by these statements together that you have never been in an Evo X MR Touring.

I've also been disappointed by the interiors of the Mitsubishis I've been in.

Only one I've driven though was my first car; A 1990 Mitsubishi (rebadged as a Dodge) Colt . . .

+1

I had an Impreza Cross-Tour for a week with a CVT. Ruined the whole car.
