I have an article due in a few hours, so I have to be a bit of a jerk, and admit that I haven't read the entire thread and don't know if this has been talked about, but I was wondering; would it be an idea to close voting once a car is put in it's respected section of the cool wall?

Alternately, maybe the push to have a car moved to a new section after being placed could be handled more formally than it was on the old cool wall. Like a brand new vote asking "should this car be moved to X?"

Bjorn: no and no. Just mention it in the thread. As a general rule nothing gets moved until there's at least a 2 vote gap for one vote over the other. I consider that the same criteria for moving it if it's already placed which means that after a car's placed, there must be at least 4 votes to move it from one category to another. It's a pretty unlikely scenario.

why not just have each vote carry some amount of weight ie uncool = 1, neutral =5, cool = 10 then divide by total votes. This will give you a fair ratio of how each car compares to every other car. Then just devise based on your test space, i.e first 20 polls or whatever, the criteria of this 1-10score for each of the result categories based on whatever your target percentages are 10 40 30 20 (or whatever clark said, or whatever you want for that matter)
