Me and my gf are here till Friday morning. Looking for things to do and see near this area or even an hour+ outside of here. Photo ops are always a plus (: I tried to go take some snaps of the sf bridge but had no idea where to park and my gps didn't have cali loaded so trying to use my phone as gps kinda sucks lol, still gets the job done though.

We did visit twin peaks last night though which was pretty awesome, just super cold D:

Go hit up Pier 39, maybe stop by Alcatraz, the usual SF stops.

I would take the double deck tours, gets you to all the tourist spots, I believe you can hop off walk around and hop back on when the next bus comes around. It beats having to look for parking, getting lost and all the other headaches of being in an unfamiliar city.

Good Luck and enjoy. SF is a beautiful city.

Oh be sure to check out the Ferrari store its around the corner from Union Square. I believe its on Stockton st.

This is from a PM conversation I had w/ Jdizzy92 about a year ago that I found INCREDIBLY useful. Hopefully he doesn't mind me posting this...

Hey man just wanted to hit you up because I've noticed you seem to find some really good vantage points in the bay area and I'm going to be up there at the end of the month for Wekfest and will be shooting some cars. I really don't know the area all that well and was wondering if you could point me in the right direction for some shooting locations? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and if you have any shots from/of any locations to show as examples that would be extremely helpful!

Thanks,

Sean

Ya sure dude, I am more than glad to help you out. Shit, I will even tell what restaurants to eat.
You can drive to Treasure Island by taking the Bay Bridge and go down towards the old Navy base. It's actually still an active Navy base but you can drive all over the place. You can park before the booth gate and you will get this kind of vantage point.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jdw-photo/318...57608718955432/
or you can go inside the base and there is a lot of big empty parking lots with the bay bridge in the background or even the Golden Gate kinda.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jdw-photo/318...57608718955432/
or you can take the road that says toward "Coast Guard Tower" or "USFC" or some shit like that and you drive up until you see another blue sign that tells you to make a right U-turn. Then you follow that road and make a second left and pull over a dirt side pull-off. There will be these stairs that will lead you to this view.

There is Fort Mason which is near the Golden Gate Bridge on the San Francisco side. You take the exit before the bridge.

Then you can cross the bridge and take the real exit and go underneath the highway to the first scenic view

or you can keep driving up and staying to your left to Hawk Eye View.

There is a light house some where near by also.

There is The Twin Peaks which is in the middle of San Francisco with the big ass red/white radio tower. You just go down Market Street towards East/South until you see a sign that says Twin Peaks ------>. You get this kind of view.

You can go to Haight Street near the Golden Gate Park for the art graffiti and clothing lines.

There is the Exploratorium. It's at 3601 Lyon Street, San Francisco, CA and it's not that fair from the Golden Gate Bridge off of HWY 101.

The Justin Herman Plaza is cool to visit on a Sunday.

Some people have there wedding taken on California Street or Powell Street.

There is Union Square where the mall is at... I think that's all I know for Vantage points in San Francisco unless you want to step outside Frisco.
Now the restaurants you must visit:
Ike's Place(sandwich shop) http://www.ilikeikesplace.com/ If you are up to it, get the Kryptonite. If not, get the Menage a Trois.
Taqueria La Cumbre(Mexican food) http://www.yelp.com/biz/taqueria-la-cumbre-san-francisco Get the fajita burrito w/chicken.
Chutney(Indian/Pakistani food) http://www.chutneysf.com/ Cheap and really good food. Their garlic naan and Tandoori Chicekn is awesome.
Buena Vista Cafe(Irish Pub) http://www.thebuenavista.com/ One of the first Irish Pubs in San Francisco. Their Irish Coffee is good. I think they were the first one to make them in Frisco.
You can go to Pier 39 and get some crab cakes.

If you are going to be here on Sat also, you should check out China Town for the Chinese New Year Parade. I hope this helps.

Find a good place to park your car and just walk around the tenderloin. Avoid the tourist trap locations and really just enjoy being in the city. Its a safe city and you don't have to look over your shoulder. Be ready for the homeless on every corner.
the Condor is fun..hmmm...anywhere are market and Van Ness..avoid the mission district. Eat at the small places that you might overlook smile.gif
Across the bridge in Sausalito is a nice place too.

The tourist stuff is REALLY crappy in San Fran. Make sure to stay away from that. Check out the small towns around the city. They are gorgeous smile.gif

Wow thanks for all the ideas guys (: I was getting worried that I would run out of things to see/do in such a recreational area but this definitely helps. I went to Pier 39 today and stopped by chinatown afterwards, gf loved it but I really gotta work on bringing less lenses with me since my back was killing me after all that walking.

I think tomorrow we're gonna hit up that park and then I feel like going to a small city to chill afterwards, any ideas on where to go near by? Or are they all about the same? I'm thinking of winging it and just hopping on hwy1 and enjoying the scenery but I dunno how far down to go before busting a uturn.

This area sure is nice though, gf already wants to move here lol.
