 The Ferrari California was unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motorshow. It's a first for many things for Ferrari: The first front engined Ferrari with a V8 The first to feature a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, it is the only option as opposed to a traditional Ferrari gated-manual The first with a folding metal roof The first with multi-link rear suspension The first with direct petrol injection. One particular note is that this happens to be the most aerodynamic Ferrari road car produced yet. It boasts a drag coefficient of 0.32 after Ferrari spent upwards of a 1 000 hours in the windtunnel with a scale model. I can't give a cool to Ferrari selling its soul and putting a folding hardtop on it in the process...neutral didn't feel like it conveyed the bad feeling this car gives me. Uncool.
I think I could give it a cool if it was a coupe (and it weighed at least a couple hundred pounds less in the process). By the way phix, I think the weight you listed in your specs is inaccurate, spread around by some early internet rumor...the more accurate numbers I see peg it at about 3820 pounds, give or take a few. |

I know I'm a fanboy and everything but this car is cool. You show up to a first date in a Ferrari California and... it's just... it's a cool car guys.
I know a lot of people see it as a soft car from a pure sports car company, but in that regard it's not unlike the old California. Not everything from Ferrari has to be a trackday car to be cool. It's a boulevard cruiser from Ferrari, that's fucking cool. |
