Drifting has become very popular worldwide now, and it has also found it`s way to Norway
Norways first drifting team is established, its called "Kamikaze Drifters"
Their website is www.kamikazedrifters.com

Many teams are also developing, and from next year drifting is an official motrorsport in Norway

Movie from the first "Drift day" in Norway can be found here
Drift Day

And pictures is found here www.akutt-galskap.com -> Galleri ->8/11-03 Drift-day Rudskogen

And i wonder if there are any drifters on this forum?
Teams?
Info?

I think that drifting looks cool, but I wouldn't put my cars through that. Even if you are racing, there really isn't an advantage to doing it, AFAIK.

Its not for speed its for show!! Its judged like Skateboarding, or snowboarding, or gymnastics if you dont like it.

However until my dieing breath I will claim that if applied properly drifting can be faster but not show drifting.

Yes drifting is an "show sport"
But drifting is also used in a certain way in racing too..
Fredrik Sørlie, the founder of Kamikaze Drifters is an vel known racing driver, and when he was racing in the UK, he was called "Fredrik "sideways" Sørlie"
Because he was drifting past the other drivers..

Drifting is also a excellent way for drivers to promote themselves, and also very usefull car handeling training..

So i would say that Drifting can be an advantage in many ways!

i lost control, hit a curb, which, besides bending my a-frame, caused me to lose all oil pressure and spin a bearing.

Drifting is just another overrated fad, much like "tricking out" civics and such.

Drifting is for people who have too much money and don't mind buying new tires every week.

You can get cheapass all seasons and only drift in low traction conditions.

heh, fact is most people still don't know what drifting is. It hasn't become a fad yet over here on the east coast. We're still just now getting into ricing cars and such tongue.gif

obviously you don't know any drifters. when they hit something, that mark never goes away. most can't afford to fix it or figure why bother it'll just happen again. as for the tires they just go to junkyards and pick up really cheap used ones.

20 bucks each... used. and your front tires dont take that much abuse in drifting.. so tires aren't that much of an issue.

i think drifting looks fun, i just dont really like the cars they do it in. I wouldn't mind goingt to a wet parking lot with my stang and messing around... these guys just take it too far.

Now one thing I have seen was an Impala SS at a drift meet and it was quite impressive to see that thing hustle. I have no doubt that with a proper suspension setup you could make a mad drift maching out of a Fox body mustang.

I don't understand the sport of drifitng.... whats the point? How do you win? 1) My car will never drift because its FWD 2) even it it did the chassis isn't that strong because it's a convertible.

If it has judges, then im going to snap. head.gif
