Well I mean, I'm staying with the "dead*" webOS for now, but I got iPhone from the process of elimination.

Windows Phone 7 - Pathetic ecosystem, miserable homebrew community.
Blackberry anything - LOL.
Android anything - Actual, on-paper specs and UX/UI speed seem to differ by two orders of magnitude regardless of the device; also, ad-slathered everything.
Samsung Bada - Must be joking.
Nokia anything - Deader than webOS, see WP7 above.
iPhone - Fast, smooth UI, lots of premium, adless apps; more restricted than free speech under Kim Jong Il.

* By dead I mean more new users in the past two months than the past two years, more apps than ever, more homebrew activity than ever. I know where I'm staying for now.

Defending my choice of transmission has become for me like defending my atheism against Christian fundamentalists. In other words, not even worth my time.

^Please elaborate on that, Razor. Why is it not worth your time, when manual cars are clearly 100% better than their automatic counterparts?

If I thought that, I would own one. Isn't that obvious? There's a time, place, and car for manual transmissions. For me, it certainly will never be in DD. That being said, I'd never own a slushbox either.

Do we really need to get into this argument... I think we've beaten this thing to death already...

That said. With the status of the smartphone market right now, I think android is the way to go. The SGSII seems to have corrected many things that have plagued android (battery life, I'm looking at you). The only thing I would be nervous about would be build quality (nothing a case can't fix, and to be honest, you would probably have to get one for the iphone too).

The biggest inherent flaw with Android is something only a complete rewrite of the backend of the OS is going to fix. The UI is just so... fucking... slow. And that's because there's no UI hardware acceleration. And in this day and age, that's pathetic.

You're probably right, but with the processors that are coming out on these phones is that really a huge issue these days?

Also, apparently the new iPhone won't be running on 4G speeds...

Yes, it still matters. I have yet to see a phone/tablet fast enough to render the UI animations using software only. Try an iOS, WP7 or webOS phone. Then try Android. Tell me the lag doesn't piss you off. Hardware acceleration is the cure.

Fuck FauxG. The networks that DO have real 4G (not AT&T or Sprint) don't have it nearly widespread enough to be useful. In terms of mobile hardware features to include or not, I have always trusted Apple, because they tend to leave things out that are half baked, like fucking gimmicky 3D support and now 4G. When it's worthy, it'll be included.

There is only one true 4G. Verizon's.

I think for the typical user, what it has now is more than fast enough for the typical user. Especially on the GalaxyS II.

Yay. I got Razor to elaborate, when he said it wasn't worth his time. It's obviously something that does bother him. At least a little. That's all biggrin.gif

Well, one thing is for certain, if he gets a Genesis Coupe, he has to go one way or the other.

Well, the hidden "if" statement for my getting a Genesis includes "Hyundai Dual Clutch" (currently in the Veloster, I believe). I will not ever have a manual in my daily driver. This is a fact.

That being said, I had to stop myself from splurging on a $4000 Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 5-speed the other night.
