I bought a '99 Diablo SV Roadster wheel for 200 dollars, and I plan to make a coffee table out of it.

The wheel is 14" Wide, and 19.5" from the edge of the lip to the other side. It weighs less then 20 pounds.

I don't plan to do much except to strip the white paint cause there is chrome is undernearth the paint. I will then put a peice of glass on top that is about 5" bigger than the wheel in diamater. It didn't come with the center cap, so I have to buy one of those also ($20) I'm thinking of painting the width part of the wheel... possibly flat black?

Got any other ideas, comments or suggestions?

If there is chrome under the white paint, stripping the paint will more than likely damage that finish.

I'm going to take it to a wheel shop... hopefuly it can be done properly. The paint was put on rather lazy.

I think putting a tire on it would be pretty sweet. I made a coffee table a couple years ago out of a tire that came off a Z06 from my work (it was barely worn but had a defect or un-patchable puncture or something). Sort of a similar idea. Good thinking though...that's gonna look great.

wow, sick room dude. the dark side poster really tops it all off well! as for the lambo table, good luck with that, i think its gonna look totally bitchin. my buddy has got a used drag slick under a plate of glate as a table, the tire is probably 3ft wide or so and its the coolest table ive ever seen.

Thanks! My basement is still a work in progress. My favorite is the stairs...

Gotta straighten these lights out near the top...

This one lights up... bad picture though.

bit small for a coffee table, but it makes up for it in creativity and coolness
I remember you posting pics a while back of a white lambo with those kind of rims on it. Did he sell the whole set?

I guess I should have said a 10" diamater because I want it to be 5" bigger all the way around. So.. 29.5 inches which is close to 2.5 feet.

Shouldn't a coffee table be more like 4' x 3' or something like that? 2.5' sounds more like an end table to go next to a couch. Isn't a coffee table supposed to be longer and stretch close to the length of the couch? How cool would that be to have the table you are talking about and make a hole through the center and put a lamp through it. smile.gif yeaaaaa boyyyy!!!!
