Dieselstation Car Forums _ Off Topic _ Great story IMO

Posted by: shandyman5 May 4 2009, 01:02 PM

Ok guys, some of you might find this gay, but I think it's pretty cool. Last night I was bored at aproximately 10p.m. and decided to see what E39 M5's were running. Now while I am new to this forum some of you may remember that my old man had an M5 and it is what I took my driver's test in. Well long story short, my father bought the M5 from Paul Miller BMW in Wayne, NJ in 2000 and it was the first M5 registered in the state of NJ. Quite an honor IMO. He leased the car for three years, all the while having some of the greatest experiences in the car. Well in 2003, the lease ran up and my Dad had planned to buy the car out. My mother not being thrilled with its lack of performance in snow, asked him if he could trade it in for another car. My father being quite the husband (WHIPPED!!!!) to my mom did indeed trade it in all the while being very depressed that he had gotten rid of his all time favorite car. Well going back to last night, I was scanning one of the many used car sites and found a silver M5 quite like his for sale in VA. Curious I logged on to his bmwusa.com owner's page and got the Vin # of the M5 he once owned. Going back to the ad, I had found I realized I had found is car!!! He got rid of it with 35,000 and today it has only 58,000 and its for sale for $24,000. I spoke to my mom about this and we decided we are going to buy it for him for his 60th birthday. I feel this is a great story, and it's quite amazing that I stumbled upon this last night. I am not one for believing in Karma or anything but I have to say I wonder if something above us connected me with this find. Either way it's a great find and I am really excited and hope he is super excited. There's my story let me know what you think, and if you think he will be psyched!!!

Cool story! Post up pics of it, and your fathers reaction when you give it to him. Good find!

PS don't tell the dealer this story until you have paid for it. They will jack up the price when they know this is the only car you want.

That's pretty cool, and it helps that the E39 M5 is one of my favourite cars of all time.

That's awesome dude, and hopefully this turns out to be one of those cars that's in a family for a couple generations (for your sake, haha). That's really cool though.

^^^ Benny=fail for killing vibe in this topic..... Thanks for the kind remarks guys.... A little update for you guys. I have been speaking to my mother all evening about negotiations and she has become a slight pain in the arse (love you anyway mom lol) I was on the phone with the dealership that now has the car and while polite they have been a pain in the ass when it comes to negotiationg. My mother thinks we should offer 20 thousand and I think she is crazy.... total low ball price. They obviously said they could not sell it for that, and then gave me the whole shpeel on how immaculate it was (No shit my father took better care of it than me lol.) I offered 22.5K for it and they said no... FUCK, i was hoping they would go for that... but they say they are an as advertised price dealership, which I feel is total BS but who knows. I'll screw with them until Wednesday hope I can get it for no more than 24K. My mom does not want to pay list but I think when she think's about my dad's face when he sees it she will go for it... I hope

If it's a matter of a thosuand or two, go for it as it is a special occasion.. Hopefully they will let it go before someone else takes the car...

you fail for using "gay" to describe a situation not pertaining anything remotely homosexual.

That'd make for some horrible horrible comments from Phix

I reckon that is one of the coolest stories I've heard in a long time. If I were your dad (I might just be...) I would be f-ing stoked as all hell man.

As Ozi said, don't let a couple of grand this way or that way put you off, especially if it's for an occasion as special as your dad's 60th.
