****UPDATE****
lukemunnell is now in charge of Longshots.
I've moved on from the Art Director at Import Tuner to going 100% freelance.
Luke is a great guy so he'll treat this thread right smile.gif
*************************

Some of you may recognize this from www.accessphoto.com
And now I'm dipping into DS for a broader spectrum.

I work for Import Tuner magazine, and I organized the "Longshots" section of the magazine each month.
The concept is to showcase good/creative photography. Sort of like a "Readers' Rides" section, but... a lot more interesting haha.
Also it is a great way to get exposure if you're a beginning photographer, attain freelance work from yours truly, or simply want your name out there in a large publication.
I too was once on the outside 2 years ago.. posting on DS and accessphoto, now I work for a publication and I'm just giving back!

SO!
If you're interested, post low-res versions of photos you'd like to submit, and I'll periodically make comments within this thread, and send PMs to selected images. It has worked out great so far at accessphoto, and I hope DS will comply as well.
There will be NO PAYMENT FOR PICTURES, but it's a killer way to get your name out there, considering your picture will be published in arguably one of the best car photography books in the game. /bragging

Key word, we're looking for CREATIVE shots, not necessarily 3/4 shots showing the full car.
Eligible cars are Japanese cars, (preferably modified) exclusively Evos, 350s, Civics, Subarus, drifters, etc etc
Here are some past issues of previous winners:

You should get a load of mint pics on DS, there's a lot of talented people on here!

Cant wait for the next mag! Any idea when you can get some shots of it up?

I assume shots of domestics would be less than ideal?

ah yes i forgot to mention that,
Yes we feature exclusively Japanese imports (haha, unless you LIVE in japan, then they wouldn't be imports), and the same goes for the Longshots section.
Thanks!

Tell me about it.
I'm floored i've gotten such a positive response from accessphoto, and now dieselstation.
It's always a tough decision that's for sure. I try to get a good mix of different angles/cars/subjects in each issue, and on top of that TRY not to use the same photographer over and over and over again.

haha, on a completely polarizing note, you should see my public longshots@sourceinterlink.com inbox at work, its full of cell phone pics

Hey now, there's nothing wrong with a good ol' 0.3mp photo of a car sitting in a parking lot at 2am basking in a pleasant orange glow from the flood lights above. Nothing like a barely recognizable car to go with a photo of some grain.

haha, we've talked about having a "Wrongshots" in one of our issues.
I swear we get shots of the back half of a car, in the middle of a dirt road, taken at eye-level, with a malnurished dog prancing around.

It's unbelievable, but can't help but chuckle smile.gif
